How can you support inquiry at home?

Ask about what your child is learning in class - "Here are 30 Questions to Ask Your Kid Instead of How Was Your Day."
  • Support and encourage interest and curiosity by following up with activities at home.
  • Encourage and practice good communication skills such as starting conversations and debates about current events.
  • Help your kids develop research skills online and from text.
  • Enjoy building projects together in the home.

Mariel Frauenheim- MYP Year 2 Language & Literature







A Wrinkle in Time is one of my favorite books because love is a theme throughout the novel, motivating its characters to work hard to save those they care about. Love is a force for good; the character's love for one another propels them forward and motivates them to risk their lives for each other. It is an inspiring tale that shows love's power and its ability to make society a better place.

Brooke Thompson- MYP Music

My favorite book is Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. I love this book because the language is beautiful and, even though the book was written 200 years ago, the story is relatable in 2019. I love a great love story! I'm a hopeless romantic.

A recent book I read that I totally loved was “The girl who smiled Beads”. I loved this book because it was about a extremely brave girl who was granted Asylum from Rwanda and moved here to Chicago. It was riveting to feel through the book what she experienced in Rwanda and how she overcame so much!

Tracy Heider- MYP Year 3 Individuals and Societies

My favorite book is Assassin's Apprentice by Robin Hobb. Hobb's stories draw the reader in with tales of adventure, heartbreak, magic and triumph. I've been reading this series for over 15 years and I can't bring myself to finish the final book because I don't want to the story of Fitzchivalry Farseer to end.

Erin Lenihan- MYP Language Acquisition (Spanish)

A book that I love is The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho because it's all about finding your own path in life and inspires every time I read it.

Brian Girard- MYP Year 3 Math

My favorite book is Don Quixote, it is the first modern novel. It’s humor and themes are timeless and still relevant. It is one of a few books I can gladly read over and over.
