Important Updates From Our Home and School Association
SAVE THE DATE: With Parent/Teacher conferences (Nov 25-27) and Thanksgiving Break (Nov 28-29) this week, not much new to report for all things HSA, but heads up that several cool things are on the way in the next coming weeks:
Friday, December 6th - Pretzel Sale/Hearts to Home Fundraiser: It’s not your mother’s typical Pretzel Friday Sale. ;) In addition to purchasing a pretzel for snack for $1, you can make a donation that will go directly to the Hearts to Home organization which supports local families in need. Look for more information coming soon!
Monday, December 9th (11:30am-10:00pm) - Dining for Dollars at Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza: Visit Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza in Wilmington, DE between 11:30am-10:00pm, and mention Bethel Springs while checking out to help the HSA earn 20% of the day’s profits!
Thursday, December 19th (11am-9pm) - Dining for Dollars at Sweet Frog: Visit Sweet Frog in Glen Mills before or after the 4th/5th Grade Chorus Concert, and mention Bethel Springs while checking out to help the HSA earn 20% of the day’s profits!
WELCOME TO VENMO: The BSES HSA is doing what all the cool kids are doing these days; we have a Venmo account! We will definitely let you know when @BSES-HSA is an available payment method in the future, but for now we’re just patting ourselves on the back for joining the 21st century. ;)
CHARLESTON WRAP FUNDRAISER: If you did not pick up your order during the Book Fair, please head to the BSES Office where the remaining orders are currently stored. If you are heading in for a Parent/Teacher conference, this would be a great time to stop in to pick up your order. Thank you again for your support!
SCHOLASTIC BOOK FAIR CORNER: As the Book Fair officially wraps up, check out this special section of the HSA eAlert to stay up to date on all things Arctic Adventure!
EWALLET CONTEST WINNERS ANNOUNCED: Wow, Bethel Springs, we had just shy of 200 students register for eWallet! Doing so helped make time spent on line waiting to check out with books at the Book Fair move more smoothly, and so the Book Fair Committee thanks everybody who participated! Our special "Cookies and Cocoa Pajama Storytime" prize with the principals will take place on Friday, December 6th for the following classes which had the highest percentage of registration in each grade:
1st Grade: Mrs. Silicato - 75%
2nd Grade: Mr. Behl - 60%
3rd Grade: Mrs. Shaffer - 67%
4th Grade: Mrs. Cashell - 60%
5th Grade: Mrs. Henderson - 38%
BOOK FAIR LAST CALL: Missed picking up a favorite read at the Book Fair? You can order online via our BSES Scholastic Book Fair shopping page which can be accessed right HERE! All orders will be shipped home. More info about online ordering can be found HERE.
PRE-ORDERS ACCEPTED NOW: Dog Man: Fetch-22
Dog Man: Fetch-22 will need to be pre-ordered as it goes on sale December 10.
Pre-order forms were sent home, but can be accessed HERE. (Books will be delivered to the school at no charge to you and then sent home with your child.)
All pre-orders must be received by December 5.
Send in your pre-order form with a check made out to BSES HSA and place it in an envelope labeled “Book Fair: Dog Man Pre-Order.”

VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT:
Scholastic Book Fair: Our Arctic Adventure Scholastic Book Fair was another huge success this year, and much of that was due to all of the amazing parent volunteers who helped out in various ways. We thank the entire Book Fair Committee for volunteering their time to distribute flyers, to set up & break down the fair as well to assist students during class visits and extended hours. Thank you to Sofia Bentioulis, Cindy Burgy (special thanks for overseeing Teacher Preview treats), Melinda Chiu, Sarah Connelly, Bridget Dively (huge thanks for handling all Book Fair decor & creating our Sign Up Genius!), Hillary Weinbrecht, and Dawn Wyzen (big thank you for organizing our Sip & Shop).
Thank you to Co-Lead Linda Quinney and Lead Tara Czerwinski for their vision and management of all things big & small throughout the course of this event. Thank you to the entire HSA Board for assisting during Book Fair hours including Book Fair Liaison Karen Centrella (huge thank you for her continued support and assistance), Carrie Douglas, Julie Sharp, Karen Sholders, and Stephanie DerOhannessian (special thanks for engaging social media coverage!). And thank you to all of the following parents who volunteered their time during class visits: Lora Barber, Kara Bianco, Michelle Daciw, Kristen Donovan, Liz Gobs, Staci Ioannou, Kayla Labowski, Sandy Markowitz, Michelle Metz, Krista Rachubinski, Marian Shahadi, and last but not least, Mary Beth Ward!
