BEH Weekly Family Message

Last week we had two long days of conferences with families on Monday and Tuesday and then the next days off to be with family and friends. It was great to see so many parents come in and meet with their students' teachers to review how things have been going and how we can better collaborate. All families that made it in were able to take home a free BEH sweatsuit for their student. If you were not able to meet with the teachers last week there is still a chance if you can find a time to connect with the teacher in the coming weeks. Just reach out to your child's teacher and see what time could work.

We started this week off with a bit of a hurdle as we did not have heat in the building for the majority of the day and we did much of our learning in our coats. They were able to finally get the heat back on around 1:00pm today and it should be good to go moving forward.

Greetings from the PTA

It is day 1 of the Winter Food Drive! We have 14 school days to bring in 350 items to earn a FREE DRESS WEEK in January. Food is distributed to BEH families in need over the winter break. If you would like to receive food, please connect with a school counselor.

The December PTA meeting is Wednesday, 12/11. We will send a virtual meeting link next week.

On this Tuesday (December 3rd) nearly every business on Mississippi Avenue will be donating a portion of their profits to BEH to support our STEAM work (field trips, assemblies, projects, etc.). Here is a list of the participating businesses. If you have shopping or are considering getting food in the neighborhood that would be a good day to plan for, as 10% of what you spend at the participating businesses will come back to BEH and it will cost you nothing extra. It is amazing to have such a supportive community of businesses!!

If you ordered pictures and were not happy with them or your student was absent during picture day this year, tomorrow is the day for them to get their pictures taken. It will only be these students getting pictures tomorrow. Students who already got pictures taken and were happy with them will not be getting photos taken.

This is the last week of SUN School for the Fall term. The last day is this Thursday, December 5th. Please make sure that you have pick-up arrangements made for the next two weeks of school, as there will be no SUN school after this week. Teachers shared the QR codes to register for the winter term at conferences, if you missed it however; Here is the link for registering for Winter SUN School. The term will run from January 6th - March 6th, 2025.

We will have our monthly Principal Connect this Friday at 2:00 in the Staff Lounge behind the office. Feel free to stop by and hear about what we are working on at BEH and ask any questions you may have for Mr. Kaveh and/or Ms. Freeman.

Following the Principal Connect, families are invited to pick up their students and then return to the gym for some family game/craft time in the gym until 3:30.

We would really like your feedback around how we are doing in serving your students and family at Boise-Eliot/Humboldt. As of right now, we have 17 family surveys completed. Our goal is to gather feedback through the survey from as many of you as possible. The survey is anonymous and it takes about 20-30 minutes to complete. We truly appreciate you taking the time to help guide our planning and work for the rest of this school year. Click this link to complete the survey. Thank you so much!

Our new Student Council would like to work on adding weekly clubs to BEH after winter break and are interested in learning skills such as a second language, sports, photography, yearbook, etc. If you or a family member have a specific skill and some consistent weekly time that you could help teach/run a club, please let me know what club you would be interested in facilitating and if there is a regular day that could work right after school. If you have ideas or other thoughts around this, please share it with us. We would love to support our students' interests and provide some additional enrichment for them to learn some new skills after school moving forward.
