The Viking Weekly Bulletin

Week one for the 24-25 school year is in the books! Students learned the school wide expectations and how to be successful in each of their classes. Now comes the hard work and focus. Each year we like to push the concept of "start how you want to finish." You can't wait until the end of the 9 weeks to make that grade you want. You have to put forth the effort, energy, and dedication needed to achieve the goals you set. Along the way, remember that you have a team of educators and support staff eager to help you achieve those ambitions.

You can pay online for school lunches by using the K-12 Payment Center. Additionally, you can send in a check for your child to add to their lunch account.

The North Carolina Department of Public Instruction has transitioned to a new Student Information System, Infinite Campus. This new platform offers an enhanced feature, allowing parents to view student grades, pay fees, update contact information, and more. We encourage you to follow the instructions below to create your parent portal account. If you encounter any difficulties, assistance will be available at school sites. More information can be found on the Getting Started with Campus Parent page (https://bit.ly/3YOpx49) provided by Infinite Campus or any one of the Moore County School's websites under Parents > Parent Portal.

The payment portion of Infinite Campus is now live, so you can pay your student fees. Please be aware that some fees may change due to class changes. Additional fees will be applied at the start of 2nd semester.

This is super important and new this year!! Your student will be bringing home a Student School Health Program Consent Form for you to sign and return to school.

The forms will be going home from their 2nd period teacher. If a student does not have a 2nd period, then please pick up these forms from the front office. They will also return these forms to the front office by Friday, August 30th.

New Immunization Rule Affecting Rising (2023-2024) NC High School Seniors

The purpose of this memo is to inform all parents of rising 12th grade students for the school year 2023-2024 of the new immunization requirement: 10A NCAC 41A.0401. Section a.10, that speaks specifically about the Meningococcal Conjugated vaccine, (MCV4).

Effective August 1, 2020, a booster dose for students is required before entering the 12th grade or by 17 years of age, whichever comes first. Every student born after January 1, 2003 will be required to receive this immunization. The first dose of the MCV4 was received in middle school in the 6th or 7th grade. The second dose or booster dose can be given at age 16 and is necessary in maintaining protection when teens are at most risk for me meningococcal disease.

To prevent a large number of students being out of compliance the beginning of next school year, we urge you to make an appointment with your health care provider or local health department as soon as possible to receive this required immunization.

Proof of this vaccine must be provided to the school to avoid exclusion of your student. We are urging you to seek this vaccine as soon as possible if your student has not already received. Please be reminded unless you have submitted and updated immunization record to the school in the last few months your student's school will need an updated copy to reflect the required booster.

Junior and Seniors who wish to park at school may receive their parking pass from the front office. Make sure you qualify to purchase a parking pass by reading the Parking Permit form. Parking passes cost $75 and may be paid with cash or check.

Sophomores will be able to purchase a pass after September 16th.

Union Church Rd was not built for the amount of traffic it has with car riders. Help keep the flow of traffic moving by rerouting with the following suggestions:

-If you are coming from Whispering Pines: Turn right on Joel Rd instead of continuing on Farm Life Rd to Union Church. You will be looped around to turn left on Union Church Rd so you can easily turn right into the Parking Lot/Drop Off.

-If you are coming from Carthage: Turn left on Grady Rd to use the back drop off line. Remember, cars may not park. You must drop off and go.

After drop off: ONLY TURN RIGHT ON TO UNION CHURCH RD. No left turns or you will hold up traffic.

There are two locations for student drop off in the morning and pick up in the afternoon: front of school and Grady Rd parking lot (near the bus parking lot). Please make sure you are pulling all the way up to drop your student off or pick them up. Failure to do so creates traffic back ups and late students. As soon as you are next to the side walk, please have you student exit the vehicle. This is a fire lane, so any car that is parked and not moving will be ticketed. Please help us move our morning car line along. Students can be dropped off starting at 8:00 on the front lawn. The doors open at 8:30 for students to grab breakfast in the cafeteria or head to class.

If it is past 8:45 am, you must use the front entrance to drop your student off. No one is permitted to use the back parking lot after 8:45 for any reason.

Students and parents: we are a closed campus for lunch time. This means students are prohibited from leaving campus during their lunch break. Students who break this rule will be considered leaving campus without permission resulting in a suspension. This rule is enforced to keep your student safe.

Additionally, food delivery services are not allowed to our campus. Please read the Parent and Student Handbook for more information.

Please help us reinforce the Moore County Schools Dress Code policy. We will be reinforcing the dress code for our students with skirt/shorts that are too short, shirts with necks that are cut low and bottoms that are cut too high. As a reference, please refer to the diagram to learn what is acceptable and not acceptable for a professional school environment according to the Moore County Schools policies. Students who are not in dress code will be asked to change. If students repeatedly break dress code, then disciplinary actions will be taken.

Save some cash and purchase our Athletic Annual Sports Pass! All ticketing goes through GoFan this year. You can purchase individual tickets for a sporting event costing $10 each or purchase the annual sports pass for your family and save money. There are multiple options based on your family size to choose from.
