8th Grade Promotion
Save the date! 8th grade promotion this year will be June 6th. More specific information about promotion will be forthcoming in our April newsletter and school reach messages as the date approaches. We are excited for our scholars' futures in high school! Stay tuned for more.
6th Grade Open House
On May 2nd, incoming 6th grade students will have open house! This is a wonderful opportunity for students to meet their potential teachers, get a sense of the layout of the building, and get a first taste of middle school! Mark your calendars!
Cereal Bar Donations
At Badger Ridge last month, our staff appreciation committee coordinated a hot chocolate bar to show gratitude to our teachers for their tireless work with our students. The bar was well received! This month, the committee is planning a cereal bar on April 15th. If you are interested in contributing to the cereal bar, please see more information and sign up using this link. Thank you!
EmpowerHER Black Girl Conference
Mark your calendars! The 2024 VASD Girl Power Summit is designed for girls 6th - 8th grade who identify as Black, African-American, or Multiracial. The theme of the 2024 VASD Girl Power Summit is "EmpowerHER". The summit will be held at the Verona High School from 9:00am-2:00pm on Wednesday, April 17, 2024. The goal of this summit is to empower young black girls to embrace their potential, pursue their passions, and become catalysts for positive change in their schools and communities. The summit is a place where the girls will be able to recognize their potential and know that they have Black women and girls who support them and their dreams. Permission forms will be sent out soon, so please be on the lookout for that. Thank you!
Cell Phone Reminders
This is just another friendly reminder that our phone policy at Badger Ridge is OFF and AWAY all school day. We want to ensure that scholars remain engaged in their academic courses and present to collaborate with their peers. Phones and particularly AirPods continue to be misused in classrooms. Please talk to your child about this school policy. Thank you!
We Want Your Feedback!
The Family Engagement Team at Badger Ridge have collaborated in conjunction with a group of parents to develop a tool that gathers feedback about your experience at Badger Ridge any time you visit! Please feel free to fill out this short survey (español) whenever you have a chance right after your time at BRMS. Thank you!
Black History Month Showcase
Missed the Black History Month Showcase last month? Don't worry! We have a recording of it! Here is the link to watch the playback. Enjoy!

Notes From Our Student Services Team
Course selection for 24/25 Academic Year
This month, sixth and seventh-grade students will select their classes for the next academic year. School counselors will present information in classes during the week of March 11th, 2024. Please check your student’s email on March 18th and complete the electronic form with them. This is the perfect time to discuss your hopes and dreams for their school success and encourage them to try elective classes that match their interests. The electronic course selection forms are due by March 22nd, 2024.
AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination)
We have finished our recruitment and selection process, and we are excited to welcome 52 students to the AVID Elective for BRMS/CKMS! We are also adding an additional 8 students to the cohort of current 8th graders as they start AVID next year!
AVID is more than the Elective class. At Badger Ridge, the AVID system supports the AVID mission: “Close the opportunity gap by preparing all students for college and career readiness and success in a global society.” One way we are supporting our students with that mission is by hosting a Career Fair. In preparation for the Career Fair, your students are learning about post-secondary options in Advisory. If you are interested in volunteering as a presenter for the Career Fair, please sign up using this link by April 10th or forward it to someone you know.
Parent Resources of the Month
The utility disconnection moratorium ends on April 15th. If you are behind, plan to make arrangements with your service provider or apply for assistance before that date to avoid disconnection! Energy Assistance and other housing support can be found in this month’s guide spotlighting Housing Resources.
