Extended......Please take Carrie Martin’s Leader In Me Annual Family Survey!
This survey is an opportunity to gain meaningful feedback from our students’ families and caregivers on the growth of your student, available supports, and areas for improvement. Some questions ask about the school and others ask about your student. Please answer the student-specific questions based on your oldest child currently attending Carrie Martin.

Entrepreneurial Fair
The third graders are hosting an Entrepreneurial Fair on Tuesday, April 23 from 12:15-2:45 in the third grade classroom, and during "Reading Under the Stars" on Friday, April 26 in the evening. All classes will be signing up to visit our fair, and students will have the opportunity to shop. Third graders are busy at work crafting jewelry, bookmarks, keychains, artwork, body scrub, bath salts, notebooks, wood projects, fairy dust, totes, stickers and more! Items will be priced from $0.25 to $3.00. All proceeds will be donated to support a nonprofit called International Hearing Dog, Inc for our service project. Families are welcome to shop and support our cause as well!
Carrie Martin Talent Show
Dear Carrie Martin Families,
We will be having a talent show on Wednesday, May 22, TBD.. We will be selecting approximately 25 acts to perform.
Ideas of talent show acts might be: playing an instrument, singing a song, doing a dance, showing a skill like juggling, acrobatics, magic show, reciting a poem, cheerleading, performing a skit, etc. All acts must be school appropriate. In order to participate in the talent show, students will need to be able to come after school and try out on ONE of the days listed below. Please return the attached permission slip to Ms. Smeltzer before the tryout dates listed below.
Monday, May 6 after school
Tuesday, May 7 after school
Wednesday, May 8 after school
Here are some guidelines for talent show acts:
- Students may only be in one act
- For those who will be singing; songs need to be sung, accompanied by instrumental music only. No lip-syncing. If you need help downloading a song, please indicate on the paper and I will provide a karaoke track. Parents can email me MP3 tracks at lori.smeltzer@tsd.org (please don’t send me a youtube link to a song)
- Acts should be no longer than 3 minutes
- Dances and costumes should be appropriate for elementary level.
- Any students performing a dance will need to perform the dance without following a streaming dance tutorial
- The morning of the Talent Show, May 22, students need to come to school early to run through the order. Rehearsal will be from 7:45-8:45 a.m.
Please find the audition form below and return it to the office by Friday, May 3, 2024.
If you have any questions please feel free to email Ms. Smeltzer at lori.smeltzer@tsd.org

Annual Family Check In
Once again it is time for families to review their Annual Family Check-In (AFC) information. It is important to complete this step as we start gearing up for the next school year.
The Annual Family Check-In is required for ALL current students in Thompson School District. Families are required to have a parent or guardian in the student’s current primary household review and sign permission forms and update (if needed) the student’s household information, emergency contacts, and health information.
Annual Family Check-In is located in the Parent Portal Account. For assistance, please contact Portal@TSD.org.
