I hope your family enjoyed the three-day weekend and that we were able to pause to reflect on Dr. Martin Luther King's leadership as we honor his legacy with acts of service. This week is the last week of the first semester, and our JLA community is finishing the semester strong and planning for new student opportunities in the second semester.

8th-grade families-It's High School Choice time! We encourage our families to visit the High School Site Nights to see any schools your child may be interested in attending. These nights will include guided tours, information sessions, and opportunities to meet with school staff. All of the site nights for each high school are listed below. We are also hosting a CAMS student information session on Wednesday at lunch- all interested students are welcome.

Here are a few events as you prepare for this week at JLA:

• MLK Holiday (No School): Monday January 20, 2024
• Regular Day Schedule: Tuesday- Friday 8:00-2:40
• School Site Council Meeting: Tuesday 3:00-4:00 in Parent Center
• Thematic HS Info Student Session CAMS: Wednesday at Lunch in Library
• Fire Drill: Thursday, 6th period
• 4th Friday Spirt Day: Friday

When picking up your student before school dismissal, please plan to pick up your student before or after the lunch period. To support lunch supervision, all support staff are unavailable, and we will not be able to release students who are at lunch. Please plan ahead and pick up your student before or after lunch.

8th grade Parents- It's time to start thinking about the process of selecting a high school for your student. This is a very important and exciting time. Here is the schedule for the high school choice site nights where you will be able to visit and learn about our LBUSD high schools!
