Colby Grade School
We are mad about March at Colby Grade School with March Madness activities! March is filled with many important events beginning with Read Across America! Once we return from Spring Break we will be 3/4 of the way through the 21-22 school year. Who knows where it went, but we know that we are going to finish strong.

Letter From the Library
I'm sending my sincere gratitude for making our Book Fair an outstanding success! Thank you for putting books in the hands of our kids! Thank you for supporting our CGS library!
Did you know? Reading just 20 minutes a day exposes your child to about 1.8 million words per year. Reading helps students develop a stronger vocabulary, and in addition, students who read for pleasure average higher grades in English, mathematics, science, and history!
Thank you for encouraging your child to read books for fun by attending our upcoming Scholastic Book Fair. And allowing your child to choose the books they want to read!

March is National Nutrition Month!
We want to practice good nutrition all year long, but this month gives us a great opportunity to focus on what eating healthy and being physically active really means. Nutrition plays a huge role in our health! Here are a few ways we can make healthy choices:
- Eat more fruits and veggies: Make half of you plate fruits and vegetables every day.
- Try whole grains: Ask for oatmeal, whole wheat breads, or brown rice at meals.
- Mix up your protein foods: Include different foods life seafood, beans, lentils, nuts, eggs, meats, poultry.
- Get involved: Help out by putting away groceries, stirring ingredients, peeling fruits, assembling salads, or setting the table.
- Be active your way: Find ways to be active and move your body for at least 1 hour a day like walking to school, riding your bike, or playing a sport with friends.

Message from Mrs. Metcalf and Ms. Jalyn
It's such an exciting month with Spring Break and the weather doing all sorts of CRAZY things like going from -7 to 70 in a matter of days! With all the chaos in the weather it is fitting that we are talking about managing ANGER, handling DISAPPOINTMENT and handling ACCUSATIONS in our Second Step lessons. Learning these skills will make your kids better friends and also help make your kids G-R-E-A-T students as well!!! We want to wish you an adventurous, fun and rewarding March!
