End of Year Message
Dear Sunrise Families,
As we reach the end of an incredible school year, I want to extend my deepest gratitude to each of you for your unwavering support and partnership. This year has been filled with growth, learning, and countless memorable moments, and none of it would have been possible without your dedication and involvement.
Thank you for entrusting us with the education and well-being of your children. Your support at home, your presence at school events, and your engagement in your child's learning journey have been invaluable. Together, we have created a nurturing and dynamic environment where our students can thrive.
To our amazing students, thank you for your hard work, curiosity, and enthusiasm. Watching you learn and grow has been the highlight of our year. You've faced challenges with resilience, celebrated successes with joy, and have shown us all the power of perseverance and a positive attitude.
As we head into the summer break, I hope you all find time to relax, enjoy, and create wonderful memories with your families. Whether you're embarking on adventures, exploring new hobbies, or simply enjoying the sunshine, may this summer be filled with happiness and rejuvenation.
We look forward to welcoming you back in the fall, ready for another year of learning, growth, and success. Thank you for being such an integral part of our school community. Have a fantastic summer!
Sea you soon, SEA TURTLES!

Reminders:
- For pickup everyone must go through the carloop - parking and walking up for your child is prohibited.
- Checkouts must be made before 2PM, Monday - Thursday and 12:45 on Friday for safety and to support success. By checking out early students are missing significant academic time. Sunrise practices bell to bell instruction, and is instructing up until the bell rings each day. We appreciate your support and understanding.
🐢**IMPORTANT: Please do not use our handicap spaces in the front for drop off and pick up - they are to be used only for disabled individuals**🐢
Additionally, if you are choosing not to use our carline in the morning, then you must park in a space and walk your child across the crosswalk. Children must be accompanied by an adult across the crosswalk. We are asking for your attention to this expectation, because there have been instances where children have almost gotten hit by other traffic in the parking lot because they are not looking.

We are a PBIS Model School!
Sunrise is a Positive Behavior Intervention Support (PBIS) Model School
We center our actions on core standards of Be Safe! Work Hard! Be Kind! Students earn tokens and positive office referrals for going above and beyond to demonstrate these three Sunrise Standards and our PBIS expectations which fall under these standards. Students use their earned tokens to spend in our quarterly PBIS store. Please continue to encourage your sea turtles to follow our Sunrise Standards: Be Safe! Work Hard! Be Kind!
Positive Office Referrals: Students also enjoy receiving Positive Office Referrals for going above and beyond to demonstrate these Sunrise Standards. When students receive a Positive Office Referral, they receive a phone call from Princpal Kraus & AP Marlasca into their classroom. The teacher places the call on “speaker phone” and the entire class gets to celebrate and congratulate their classmate on the referral. The student also receives a free kid’s meal from our business partners at Texas Roadhouse, along with administration’s specialty charms and a pencil. These charms are worth 2 at our quarterly PBIS thumb store. Students are also recognized and congratulated on WSUN, our morning news network. Student’s names are also written each quarter on the PBIS bulletin board outside of the front office. Parents, please be on the lookout for these referrals in your child’s backpack. We do send a copy home.
PBIS Standards Posters: Being a model PBIS school requires us to fulfill specific PBIS guidelines and expectations. One of these requirements is to ensure we have our standards posted around the school and expectations are visible and clear to students and staff. We have expectations for the hallway, recess, cafeteria, classroom, and bus. Positive Behavior Intervention Support also requires the school and home working together in partnership to model, teach, and uphold our Sunrise Standards and expectations. We thank our Sunrise parents and families for using our standard language at home and supporting us in this important work.

Early Release Days REMINDER
Arrival & Dismissal Procedures
Morning Arrival
We thank you for adhering to our campus safety guidelines of not dropping off your child earlier than 7:30 a.m. as there is no supervision on campus until 7:30 a.m., unless you enroll your child in the Before and After School (BAS) Program (fees apply).
If your child will be eating breakfast at school, please drop off your child no later than 7:40 a.m. so there is time to eat before instruction begins at 8 a.m. Late student arrivals (after 8 a.m.) must be escorted to the front office by a parent for check-in. The morning car loop begins wrapping up at 7:55 a.m.
Please do not drop your child off in the parking lot unattended. If you are not using the car loop, please park your vehicle and escort your child to the cross walk to cross with Mr. Grugan, our P.E. coach. Elementary students must be carefully supervised around moving vehicles. Thank you for keeping our students safe!
Parents are not permitted to walk their child to class. Please be prepared to wish your child a great day under our front entryway before entering the building. Many parents choose to say goodbye at the crosswalk, and this works out well too. We always have extra staff members available at our entrance the first several days of school to help our sea turtles get to the correct classroom.
Tardy Students
Any student arriving after 8:00 a.m., when our carloop closes, must be escorted to the front office and signed in by a parent/guardian. The student must be present in the office with you to receive a tardy slip by one of our staff members. Please do not send your child to class prior to them receiving their tardy slip by a Sunrise employee. Thank you!
Dismissal
Dismissal is at 2:30 p.m. daily and 1:15 p.m. EVERY Friday
Please note, our dismissal will be delayed if there is rainy or inclement weather during this time. Your patience is appreciated.
Approved Methods for Student Dismissal
Registered Bus Rider, Sunrise BAS program, Private Daycare Van Rider, Biker/Walker (no vehicle drive ups*), or Car Loop
Dismissal via parent walk-up is not permitted. If you have a one-time specific circumstance, please go to the front office. Our staff will be happy to assist you. If your child has special needs, your child's teacher and our administrative team will meet with you to work out a safe dismissal plan for your child.
*Parents are welcome to walk-up to our biker/walker gate to meet their child to walk home. Parents entering the front gates via vehicle for student pick-up must use the car loop please. You may not park across from the biker/walker dismissal area to pick up your biker/walker to avoid the car loop.
We also kindly ask you do not check out your students to avoid the car loop. Beginning at 2:15 p.m., our office staff begins working to help ensure our entire campus of students get home correctly and safely. Thank you for helping us focus on a safe and orderly dismissal for all students.
Car Loop Procedures
Our dismissal process begins at 2:30 p.m. The car loop will not begin to move before this time. Important: Please keep your car tag visible for our staff to see until your child enters your vehicle. Not having your Sunrise issued car tag visible slows down the car loop. If you do not have your car tag available, we will ask you to pull up and wait while a staff member conducts a safe pick-up check with the front office. You will be required to show your photo ID. Car tags are available at registration day and in the front office throughout the school year.
Please use both lanes of traffic once you pass the Welcome to Sunrise sign at the front entrance past the gates. If both lanes are not used, traffic will back up onto Mara Loma Blvd. and Babcock Street. Please do not block the lane of traffic used for vehicles exiting the parking lot. Form the second lane once you pass the welcome sign please. Once you approach the front of the school, a Sunrise staff member will help you merge to the correct lane for the pick-up of your student(s).
If you are only picking up PreK or Kinder students, you will merge into the left lane and bypass the pick-up line in front of the school. You will get into line at the west end of the building near the bike rack for PreK/Kinder pick-up.
If you are picking up 1st through 6th grade students, you will merge into the right lane and proceed to the pick-up line directly in front of the school. If you are picking up both, you will merge into the right lane to pick up your 1st through 6th grader(s) first, and then you will proceed down to the PreK/Kindergarten line.
Our car loop will be slow during inclement weather. We thank you in advance for your patience. For your planning, our car loop typically runs from 2:30 p.m. to about 2:50 p.m.
Please note: Thank you in advance for being kind to our staff member working at the car loop traffic cone. We try to be as fair as possible to both lanes when moving cars forward. Although most PreK and Kindergarten parents use the left lane to avoid having to merge, any parent may use either lane and merge to their child's pick up lane at the traffic cone. The left lane is not reserved for PreK and Kindergarten parents only. Due to our large population of car riders, if we do not allow parents to use both lanes of traffic for all students, traffic will back up. The left lane appears to run faster because many of these cars are driving straight down to the Pre-K and K pick-up area, but they are also waiting in line at that end of the school.
Inclement Weather Dismissal Procedures
If lightning is in the area, the release of students will be delayed until severe weather passes.
We will release students when it is safe to do so. For parents picking up a biker/walker on inclement weather days, please use the FRONT car loop and have a car tag visible, or they may be checked out in the front office by someone on their approved pick up list. Please ensure pick-ups have a photo ID.
If weather is too severe for PreK and Kinder car rider students to release at the west end of the building, they will be moved to the front area of the building, which is covered. The car loop will run slowly on these days. We will send a text message to notify parents if this decision is made.
Weather in Florida can be unpredictable and changes can occur quickly. We will always do our best to communicate with parents via text message regarding dismissal changes. Thank you for your patience and support during these times.
Please always have your car tag or photo ID visible when picking up students! Thank you!

ReaXium Bus Ridership Program- IMPORTANT Information for all Bus Riders
Dear Parents, Guardians, & Families,
Over the past few months, Brevard Public Schools has purchased and piloted the ReaXium School Bus Ridership program for implementation for the upcoming SY 2022-2023. All buses have been outfitted with ridership tablets and GPS units.

Your bus rider(s) will be provided a district-issued bus badge with a barcode at your registration day unless they are provided their school ID at registration.
Bus riders must have their badges readily available to be scanned while boarding and exiting the bus to improve load times. Please assist in making sure your bus rider has their badge with them every day.

Estimados padres, tutores y familias,
