The Llewellyn Friday Flyer
May 31, 2024
Dear Families,
The days are just flying by with field trips, special projects, and testing. Highlights from this week include our last music performance of the year last night by our Kindergarteners led by ZWB. I am not sure who enjoyed the concert more- the performers or the parents- as students sang a variety of songs old and new that made us all laugh and maybe even tear up a bit. What a fun way to end the school year and mark my last school performance (sniff!)
Have you seen our 3rd grade bridge projects from Gassner's & Stelter's classes yet? They are magnificent!! The variety of materials used and the attention to detail is incredible. This is something we all look forward to every year. Way to go third graders!
Reminder! This is your last chance to make your voice heard by completing our Successful School Survey (ends TODAY, May 31st). The information gathered from this survey is used to generate change and will be very helpful to Llewellyn's new principal. You can find the link and more information below.
Can you believe there are only two weeks left?
Have a wonderful weekend!
Principal Pam
Please help us celebrate Mrs. Frisby's Retirement!
Please join us to celebrate the amazing teaching career of Susan Frisby. We will be gathering in the school garden after school on Thursday, June 13th at 2:30 to honor her retirement. Please spread the word!
Llewellyn 3-5 Grade Dance Performance
Llewellyn Families,
You are cordially invited to a dance performance of Soran Bushi, presented by Llewellyn's 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders, on Thursday, June 6th at 1:50 pm, out on the blacktop. The performance will last about 5 minutes.
Please remind your student to wear a blue, green, or white shirt on June 6th.
Here is the link to the Soran Bushi tutorial video, should your student like to practice at home.
~ Ms. Castro
Parents – If you attend the dance performance, please understand that due to how close the performance is to the end of the day, we will NOT be able to sign students out early. Please plan on waiting until the normal release time to pick up your student(s). Thank you for your understanding.
Last Chance for Lost & Found
Friday, June 14th (the last day of school) will be the last day to pick up Lost & Found. It will be brought outside for pick-up time so that everyone has one last chance to look through it. After that, whatever is left will be donated to the PTA Clothes Closet or thrown away! PLEASE take some time over the next few weeks before or after school to come by and take a look!
2023-24 Llewellyn Yearbooks: Many of you have been asking about yearbooks this year. I am happy to share that this year every student will receive this year's yearbook (put together by our own incredible Kellie) for free! This is my way of saying thank you to all our amazing students and families who have made my time at Llewellyn special. We will hold them until the last week of school. Teachers will decide when to distribute them in the last days of school. I can't wait for you to see them! Thank you to all who sent in photos!
From the Office
Parents, if you know your student(s) will not be returning to Llewellyn next year, please let the Office know as soon as possible. This helps with planning our class lists for next year (starting soon), as well as making it possible for your new school to register your student(s) for next year. You can email Mark (mrobb@pps.net) or Kellie (kgrunde@pps.net).
Your Voice Matters! Survey ends May 31st!
The Successful School Survey is our annual district-wide school climate and feedback survey. This is the only time the district hears from students, staff and families system-wide. Gathering this data will help us understand experiences at our schools. School climate is a key component influencing outcomes for students. Your feedback helps the district gather data to make informed decisions about school climate and culture. The information gathered from this survey about Llewellyn will be key in helping direct the school's focus for next year. Llewellyn wants to hear from you!!!
The survey will take approximately 15-30 minutes to complete and is available in English, Spanish, Russian, Somali, Vietnamese, and Chinese.
https://surveys.panoramaed.com/portlandor/familyspring24/surveys
Llewellyn is striving for 100% participation this year but we need your input to reach this goal! An email was sent from the district with more information. Any questions please reach out to Ms. Kellie (kgrunde@pps.net). Thank you for your time and honest feedback.
3rd–5th grade Parents-updated information re: Chromebook Return & Check out
We are closing in on the end of the year and that means it is almost time for your student(s) to turn in their Chromebook! Students will be turning them in sometime on June 12th (your teacher will have the specific time), with the 13th available for last-minute, individual returns. Students are expected to return their Chromebook, Power Cord, and Case. Starting this year, lost Cords and Chromebooks will be charged to the student.
If you would like your student(s) to have their Chromebook available to them for the summer, please print, fill out, and sign (both parent AND student) THIS FORM and have your student return it to school, instead of their Chromebook, on their class’ appointed day and time. Copies of the form are also available outside the office for pick-up.
Any student who does not return either the summer form, or their Chromebook, will be considered to have lost their device. Lost devices are immediately deactivated remotely and will not be able to be used.
If you have any questions, please contact Mark in the office.

6/7 Llewellyn Carnival & Book Swap
From The Foundation
The PPS school board recently voted to overhaul local school foundations like Llewellyn's starting in July. It is important to note that funds raised through June 30 will still benefit Llewellyn in the 24-25 school year. Thank you to everyone who has contributed this year - through April 2024, we have raised over $49,000 (66%) towards our goal of $75,000. You can still donate HERE through June.
For our recurring donors, you should receive an email in June from the Fund for PPS confirming that your donor designations to Llewellyn specifically will end on June 30, 2024.
What about Foundation fundraisers next year? Fundraisers like Run Llewellyn, the Wreath Sale, and Dine Outs are a lot of fun and they aren't going anywhere - they will still benefit Llewellyn via the PTA.
Still need to pick up your sign and magnet? Email below to arrange pick up.
