Principal's News
This week, our students participated in an exciting enrichment program presented by the Atlantic White Shark Conservancy! They learned fascinating shark facts, like how sharks can have 30,000 or more teeth throughout their lifetime, and that to be called a shark, an animal must have at least 5 gills. A big thank you to the PTO for arranging this amazing educational experience. The students had a "jawsome" time diving into the world of sharks!

Health Screenings: Vision, Hearing, and BMI
Vision, hearing, and BMI (Body Mass Index) screenings have been completed for students. These screenings are an important part of our effort to ensure the health and well-being of all students. If any concerns were identified during the screenings, a referral letter will be sent home with your child. The letter will provide information about the specific concern and recommend that you follow up with your child’s healthcare provider for further evaluation.
Please know that these screenings are not a diagnosis, but they help us identify areas where further attention may be needed. If you have any questions about the screenings or the referral process, don’t hesitate to reach out to me. I’m happy to provide additional information or support as needed.
Reminder: Keep Students Home if They’re Feeling Unwell
One of the best ways to prevent illness from spreading is by ensuring that students who are feeling unwell stay home to recover. As a friendly reminder, please keep your child home from school if they are feeling unwell in any way. Even mild symptoms can impact their health and the wellbeing of other students and staff. If your child is unwell, please make sure they are symptom-free for at least 24 hours before returning to school. This simple step helps prevent the spread of illness and keeps our school community safe and healthy.
Healthy Habits for a Great Start:
Handwashing: Encourage frequent handwashing with soap and water, especially before meals and after using the restroom.
Healthy Snacks: Pack nutritious snacks that fuel your child’s body and mind, such as fruits, veggies, and whole grains.
Sleep: Make sure your child is getting enough sleep each night. Elementary-aged children typically need 9-11 hours of sleep.
If your child had any of the following symptoms today, please keep them home
Fever over 100 degrees (must be fever free for 24 hours without the use of tylenol or motrin to return to school)
Vomiting and/or diarrhea (if your child has had any vomiting or diarrhea within the past 24 hours, they should not return to school)
Diagnosis of communicable disease such as strep throat or conjunctivitis (if diagnosed with a communicable disease and prescribed antibiotics, your child must not return to school until they have been on antibiotics for at least 24 hours)
A doctor’s note is required if a student is out five (5) or more consecutive days. If an absence is due to a communicable disease or a bone fracture, a doctor’s note is required the day the student returns to school and should include any recess/gym limitations.
Also, please send an extra set of clothing with your child to school. Accidents happen, and we may have limited clothing available at school. Having a spare outfit will help ensure your child stays comfortable throughout the day.
If you have any questions or concerns about your child's health, or if you're unsure whether they should attend school, please don't hesitate to contact me.
