Kiker Elementary Newsletter

Message from the Principal
Kiker Families and Caretakers,
Our first week of school was a huge success and definitely a team effort! The students are quickly settling in to their new routines. As I visit the classrooms I have seen a lot of community building within each class as well as introductions into their new learning. We have several goals we have set for this school year but one of the most important things we can do at this time of year is to be proactive in creating strong relationships with our students. These relationships will be the foundation to our success!
We hope that you will be able to make it out to the upcoming Back to School Nights where you will get to take a deeper dive into what your child's day looks like and some of the things they will be doing this year!
Doors Open: 7:15AM
Tardies Start @ 7:41AM
Thank you for your continued support,
Mrs. Abrams, M.Ed.
Principal

Drill Updates/Information
Ensuring the safety of our students and staff is our top priority. In our ongoing commitment to transparency and preparedness, we want to inform you about an upcoming lockdown drill mandated by the district policy.
Lockdown Drill Details:
Date: Friday, August 30th
Time: 8:30
What is a Lockdown? A lockdown is a precautionary measure taken in response to incidents that require students, staff, and authorized visitors to remain in secure areas such as classrooms.
Lockdown Drill Procedure: During the drill, an announcement will be made over the school’s public address system. All students and adults are required to promptly clear halls and open spaces, moving to the nearest classroom or secure area. Even if it's not their usual classroom, students should seek the closest available shelter. Classroom doors will be closed, locked, and lights turned off.
It is crucial for students to remain calm and follow staff instructions throughout the drill. The entire process is anticipated to take approximately 1 minute, after which normal activities will resume. We aim to minimize disruption and maximize preparedness.
Questions or Concerns? If you have any questions or concerns about the upcoming lockdown drill, please don't hesitate to reach out to our administrative team. Your understanding and cooperation are greatly appreciated as we prioritize the safety and well-being of our school community.

Book of the Month Club!
It's Back!! The Kiker Book of the Month Club is up and running!
Kiker Elementary collaborates with outside vendors to bring a variety of experiences to our after school program. They are all individual businesses. For that reason, specific questions about clubs, schedules, etc. should be directed towards them before contacting Kiker staff as they will have the most detailed information. You can click on the title or the graphic to the right to find out all of the details!
*A link to this document will also stay in "Popular Links" at the end of this newsletter throughout the year.

Kiker Keynotes - 5th Grade!
What to ask your child instead of, "How was your day?"
If you are like most parents, you are eager to find out about your child's day when they return home. It is very natural to say, "How was your day?"! If your kid gives you a lot of details with that question then stick with it! If you are simply getting "fine" as your response....here are some other options! Give them a try!
