K-8 Campus Updates
As we are gearing up for the last 2 weeks of school for 2024, please remind our Grizzlies that Teaching & Learning remain our focal point all the way until Dec 20th. We realize that it can be challenging to remain focused at times with so much excitement and future festivities. Therefore, please remind them to complete and turn in all work as the quarter is coming to close. Additionally, many of our students will be taking assessments and should be encouraged to do their BEST. Your continued support and cooperation is appreciated. Thank you!
All the best,
Mrs. Spencer

High School Campus Updates
I would like to express my sincere gratitude for the support families have provided this semester. It is an honor and pleasure to serve as the CGS HS principal. We are excited for our students as they work to successfully complete their teacher-made exams and EOCs. Please ensure they study, get plenty of rest, eat a good breakfast, and arrive on time. Teacher-made exams are 12/11-12/13.
Mr. George Robinson, Assistant Director of Recruitment & Scholar Support for Elon Academy, will meet with our 9th graders on Monday, December 9th at 8:15 in the commons area at the high school. Check out this link for more information on Elon Academy.
Students taking ACC classes on the CGS campus may have exams during our teacher-made exam schedule. CCP students in ACC courses will report according to the directions of their ACC instructor and attend their ACC courses on the CGS campus as normally scheduled. If they have an ACC exam during the teacher-made exam, they will take the teacher-made exam on 12/16 or 12/17. The teachers and Dr. Morris will work with the students to ensure they complete their teacher-made exams prior to winter break if they have scheduling conflicts. Please have your student reach out to their teacher or Dr. Morris with questions.
CCP on the CGS Campus Schedule for Spring 2025
We strive to provide ACC courses on our campus in collaboration with the ACC instructors. Unfortunately, due to low enrollment in the MAT143, ENG112, and HIS132, we have had to cancel these courses being held at the Clover Garden campus for the Spring semester. Students have the option to register for online or in-person courses each semester, and many of our students who were scheduled for in-person ACC classes at CGS have decided to take classes on the ACC campus or online for the upcoming semester. Students impacted by this will receive an email from the ACC advisor to discuss options.
REMINDER- FALL EXAM SCHEDULE:
The week of 12/16-12/20 are early release days due to EOC testing. Those without an EOC will follow the early release schedule and attend each of their classes for a short period. Attendance will be taken. If students do not have exams and do not attend, they will be marked absent. Transportation will not be provided at dismissal. All students must be picked up by 12:20 pm on the early release days. Please see the Fall Exam Schedule for details.
High School Student Advising Information and Opportunities:
Dr. Morris will be meeting with students at the beginning of the second semester to share information on Career and College Promise (CCP) at ACC.
Community Updates
Shout Out- Congratulations Mrs. Nina on Retirement!!
Thank you so much to our families, staff, students, and alumni for attending Mrs. Nina's Retirement Celebration on Friday night! It was a bittersweet day as Mrs. Nina who has been with us at CGS since we opened in 2001 retired officially on Friday. Our K-2 Students sang, "You are my Sunshine," our 3rd-5th graders colored sunflower pictures, our middle school students created a banner and "thank you cards", and our high school students made a banner, our seniors gave her carnations and the cheerleaders did a cheer specifically made for her. Our students were amazing and made her day SO special!! We are so happy for Mrs. Nina and wish her relaxation and rest as she enjoys her well earned retirement. CGS has grown from roughly 200 students when we started in 2001 to almost 1,000 in 2024 under her leadership and guidance. We can't say thank you enough to our amazing registrar and we will miss her so much!! Congrats Nina! "Once a Grizzly, ALWAYS a Grizzly!"
Click HERE for some photos/videos from the day!
Shout Out- Mr. Saunders- Athletic Boosters
Shout out to Mr. Saunders, President of our Athletic Boosters for donating popcorn and serving popcorn at Mrs. Nina's retirement event on Friday night! Mr. Saunders and his daughter both assisted with serving popcorn, cake, and ice cream and assisted with the event's clean up and organization at the end and we are greatly appreciative of them both!! Thank you Athletic Boosters for your donation and for helping make Mrs. Nina's retirement night special!
