National Walk, Bike and Roll to School Day
Forest Glen's new ONE EARTH Environmental Club has been busy organizing their first event of the year. National Walk, Bike and Roll to School day took place this week and Forest Glen Eagles celebrated by wearing green and spirit wear and carrying inspirational signs. Forest Glen's 4th and 5th grade One Earthers made posters, wrote and performed morning announcements and shared their earthly enthusiasm with walkers and bus riders. Look for this motivated group of environmentally conscious junior citizens to spread the word throughout the year. Forest Glen cares for our ONE EARTH! Great job students.

Did You Know?
The D41 Kids Foundation is a 501(c)3 nonprofit created by a group of residents in 2020 concerned about the impact of funding cuts, inflation and policy changes on a national, state and local level that threaten the revenue of public education. The goal was to create a pathway for community members to invest in our children by supporting our schools. In so doing, the Foundation envisions a district that, guided by evidence, fosters inclusivity, diversity, and equity to fully equip students for a dynamic world, fortified by unwavering community support. “Our mission is to strengthen public education in D41 through adaptive partnerships, strategic investments, and advocacy for initiatives that prioritize equity and prepare students to be global citizens,” said D41 Kids Foundation Chair Lynn Bruno.
Whether it is mailing books through our Dolly Parton Imagination Library, ensuring all children have the school supplies they need to succeed, providing winter outerwear to those in need, or meeting the needs of our families in crisis, D41 Kids Foundation stands ready to do what it takes to make our vision a reality. Go to D41Kids.org to learn more and donate to make a difference! If you are interested in learning more, volunteering or serving on the board, please reach out to the Foundation through their contact page at D41Kids.org.
Students Share Hijab Tradition
During lunch this week in Ms. Heskin's room, a couple of Hadley 8th graders brought in hijabs and an abaya, a long cloak-like garment, for other students to try on in class. The students shared why they wear these garments and how they are culturally significant. The students had fun trying on the hijabs and abaya while learning from their peers. The students explained that when wearing a hijab it accentuates the natural beauty of your face without other distractions.
