May 2025 Bond Extension Proposal
We're excited to share more this week on the May 2025 Bond Extension Proposal. We hope you were able to check out the Bond website last week! This week, we want to share the projects within the bond that impact our building specifically.
This proposal does not increase our mill rate - it's a ZERO mill increase request; voters will consider the measure to extend our current rate which would allow Otsego $46.5 million for improvements, upgrades and additions district-wide. The plan is future-focused, student-centered and community-driven.
Please look over our building improvements and be sure to check out the entire scope of the proposal on the Bond Extension website. You can learn more, ask questions and get involved at one of our Community Conversations, as well. Join Supt. Haase at one of the following gatherings:
- March 13th - 6pm - Otsego District Library
- March 18th - 6pm - Alamo Elementary
- March 19th - 6pm - Otsego High School

Dealing with an Unsatisfactory Report Card
Here are some important things you can do to influence the classroom performance of your child when an unsatisfactory report card is brought home:
Create a positive support system. Look for opportunities to praise improvements your child is making. Do not only find faults and criticize.
Be firm, but affectionate. Separate your child from the grades – let him know you are disappointed with the grades, but you love him and will support him so that together you can work toward improvement.
Offer hope, not despair. Discuss the grades with your child’s teacher and together set some realistic goals for your child. As children gain a sense of achievement, they will be eager to learn new skills.
Offer to help. Educating a child requires a team effort between the school and parents. Be involved by reading with your child, quizzing them on spelling and math and asking questions to help study for tests. But do not do the work for them.
Set a homework schedule. A regular study time and quiet study area with good lighting help your child to see that study time is a regular part of his/her lifestyle, rather than something to be resisted.
