INTRODUCING YOUR 28-5A BI-DISTRICT CHAMPIONS!
WEEKLY MESSAGE
Hello Mustang Family,
As we wrap up the first 9-week grading period, I want to thank everyone for their hard work and dedication. Grades are due today at 4:30 PM and report cards will be available next week through the Home Access Center (HAC). Please keep an eye out for them.
As we enter the second 9-week grading period, we want to emphasize the importance of good attendance and being on time and prepared for every class. If there’s anything students need to be successful in their classes, please don't hesitate to reach out—we are here to help.
We’d also like to take a moment to review our cell phone policy, as we know that phones can be a distraction in the learning environment. Here’s a reminder of the school’s policy regarding cell phones:
- Unless authorized by a teacher, no cell phone use will be allowed during class time.
- Each teacher will manage cell phones in their classroom using a method of their choice. Examples include:
- Phones in backpacks or pockets for the entire class period
- Collecting phones in a box or pouches
- Providing charging stations in the room
- Phones face down on students' desks
If a teacher does not allow phones in their room, they must remain silenced and out of sight. This also applies to earphones and headphones. All teachers will post and review their specific cell phone policies with students regularly.
Now, let’s celebrate some of the amazing things happening on campus! Our students are engaged and having fun while learning. This week’s Photos of the Week highlight:
- Our Forensics, Computer Science, and Biotech classes, where students are exploring fascinating activities and projects.
- Congratulations to our tennis team, who made the playoffs for the first time in school history!
- Shoutout to our water polo and cross country teams for an excellent season.
- Our Mighty Mustang Band did a fantastic job at their first marching competition, and we look forward to cheering them on in future events.
- Let’s continue supporting our volleyball and football teams as they give their all each week.
A very special shoutout to our Student Council, who organized another wonderful Homecoming week filled with festivities and spirit. Not only did they bring our school community together, but they also went above and beyond by creating homemade mums for some amazing students on campus. This beautiful act of kindness truly reflects the love and care we have for all students at John Jay. We are incredibly grateful for their hard work and dedication!
A huge thank you to our photographers, journalism team, clubs, organizations, choir, spirit groups, and ROTC—your contributions make our school spirit soar. We are so proud of ALL our Mustangs and everything they’re achieving.
Reminder: Monday is a student holiday, so we’ll see everyone back at school on Tuesday, October 15th. Have a wonderful weekend, and keep up the great work, Mustangs!
With Mustang Pride
