Message from Principal Ivelia
Welcome Back Viking Students and Families
As we prepare to embark on another new school year, we're excited to reconnect and continue our shared journey toward success. In this edition of Message in a Bottle, you'll find essential dates and details to help smoothly transition from summer to the school year ahead. We encourage you to stay informed and actively participate in our monthly newsletters, where we'll share the latest positive events and important updates from our campus.
As your principal, I’m thrilled to once again welcome the buzz of energy and excitement that fills our hallways and classrooms. Whether your student is stepping into high school for the first time or is a seasoned Viking returning for another year, these are truly exhilarating times filled with new challenges and experiences. We encourage every student to seize the opportunities ahead by connecting through one of the 4A’s: Academics, Arts, Activities, and Athletics. Let’s make this year one of growth and connection.
We're grateful for your continued partnership in your student's success. Message in a Bottle is our monthly communication designed to proactively and comprehensively keep students and families informed. MIB will be sent out by the first Friday of each month, helping to ensure you stay well-informed while minimizing the number of emails in your inbox.
Thank you for your support, and here's to a fantastic new school year!

2024 LSSD Bond
Last month we shared the news that our school board approved a resolution to place a bond on the November 2024 ballot. We thought it might be helpful to share the history of the district’s past bonds. In the last 20 years, our community has approved two bond measures. One approved in 2005, which is set to expire in 2025, and another in 2016, which is set to expire in 2037.
Our Board of Directors is committed to fiscal responsibility, and always aims to keep the cost to taxpayers as low as possible. With the repayment of the 2005 bond complete next year, the proposed 2024 bond replaces that cost with just a slight increase to taxpayers.
The 2005 bond funded the building of Cavelero Mid High School; the modernization of Hillcrest, Mt. Pilchuck and Sunnycrest Elementary Schools; and facilities improvements at Lake Stevens High School, including the new stadium.
The 2016 bond allowed us to build a new elementary school and Early Learning Center, modernize and expand Lake Stevens High School, and provide updates to safety and security, and infrastructure systems at all schools.
If approved, the 2024 bond would help ensure our elementary schools have balanced capacity by funding modernizations and expansions at two schools and building a new elementary school. It also addresses modernizations at Lake Stevens Middle School and funds safety improvements throughout the district.
Learn more about the 2024 bond projects, and check out the FAQs.
