Principal's Message
👋 Dear Booth Hill Families,
I hope you are all staying well. It has been a challenging few months with illness, and we continue to see high numbers of absences among both students and staff.
To help keep our school community healthy, please remember:
- If your child has had a fever, they should remain home for at least 24 hours after it has resolved without medication.
- If they are experiencing persistent symptoms or if a household member has recently been diagnosed with COVID, flu, RSV, or norovirus, please consider keeping them home as a precaution.
Your support in following these guidelines helps us create a healthier environment for everyone. Thank you for your partnership in keeping our students and staff safe and well.
Warm regards,
Kevin Chase

OLSAT
The Otis-Lennon School Ability Test (OLSAT) is a standardized assessment used to measure students' reasoning and problem-solving abilities. It evaluates verbal, nonverbal, and quantitative reasoning skills, providing insight into a child's cognitive abilities.
The test consists of multiple-choice questions that assess skills such as pattern recognition, logical thinking, and verbal comprehension. It will be administered in grades 3 & 5, with different levels tailored to each age group. The OLSAT does not measure knowledge or academic achievement.
Grades 3 & 5 students will participate in the OLSAT practice test 2/10, 2/11, or 2/12 , then the OLSAT test on Friday, February 20th.
BHS Kids Heart Challenge Principal Challenge:
Our school is participating in the American Heart Association Kids Heart Challenge and I have taken the Principal’s Challenge! We are hopeful that at least 50% of our families will register for our Kids Heart Challenge team (directions below) as in years past!
To get a head start, sign up, to take the challenge at www.heart.org/khc or on the “Kids Heart Challenge” App!
Booth Hill School’s Kids Heart Challenge program (formerly known as Jump Rope for Heart) that is organized through our PE department will begin this coming Monday, January 27, and it will run until Friday, February 28. This program is something that we have done at our school dating back to 1980. We are very proud to be a “Heart Partner School” with the American Heart Association! We are excited to take a challenge for our hearts and our health throughout American Heart Month!
Thank you for joining our team of Heart Heroes. I know our school community can do this!
Kindergarteners had a great time building ramps and swings as part of our Push, Pull and Go Science unit. We worked with partners to follow set directions and then we were able to create our own playgrounds.
3rd grade science - students used spring scales to observe and record the distance a car travels from the different amounts of force being applied. (Force and motion unit).

School Attendance
As a school community, we continually strive to promote regular attendance at Booth Hill. We welcome and appreciate open communication between school and home; therefore, please reach out if you need assistance with getting your child to school each day and in a timely fashion. Parent and school partnerships enable us to best support our students to ensure success at school.
"Chronically absent is defined as "a child who accumulated a total number of absences at any time during the school year that is equal to or greater than ten percent (10%) of the total number of days that such student has been enrolled at the school during the school year."
Please refer to board policy 5113.1 on our website for more information. https://www.trumbullps.org/board-of-education/policy
