Happy Summer!

Today we finished the school year strong and look forward to a happy and healthy summer vacation!! School Starts for the 24-25 school year on Tuesday, August 27, 2024.

2024 - 2025 LHS Student Schedules

All LHS students ( including incoming 9th graders will have their class schedules for August. Students had the opportunity to work through any concerns with their guidance counselors If you haven't seen or worked through conflicts with your schedule, please see your guidance counselor before the end of the year.

SUMMER WEIGHT ROOM DATES AND TIMES

The Weight room will be open Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 9am to 11am for any high school student. The Google Classroom code is 3ndtwad. Check here to see any announcements or schedule changes.

Dates:

6-17, 6-19, 6-20, 6-24, 6-26, 6-27.

7-1, 7-3, 7-15, 7-17, 7-18, 7-22, 7-24, 7-25, 7-29, 7-31

8-1, 8-5, 8-7, 8-8.

*Please note the weight room will be closed the week of July 7th.

If You Ordered a Yearbook

If your student ordered a yearbook, they will be shipped to the school over the summer. We will send out emails to the email provided when you ordered letting you know when they can be picked up at the school.

CONGRATULATIONS CLASS OF 2024!

Class of 2024 Transcripts - On Monday, June 3rd, we were made aware that while your transcripts note GRADUATED 2024, the graduation date listed in the top right corner says June 3, 2023. Your Final transcripts have been updated to reflect the correct date of graduation, June 1, 2024. Also, final transcripts have been uploaded to Naviance and sent to the college/ university you will be attending this fall, as applicable.

May 30th Senior Community Scholarship & Award Ceremony - What a great night! Over $62,000 was awarded to 49 seniors. Congratulations to all of our scholarship and award recipients and many thanks to our memorial, business, and community donors. Your generosity and support is greatly appreciated.

Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®) - FAFSA Updates:

There is still time for high school seniors to fill out their Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). For information and FAFSA-related events, go to https://www.mefa.org/fafsa and www.mass.gov/financialaid.

On April 26, the Healey-Driscoll Administration announced that it is providing grants to more than 100 Massachusetts public schools serving Gateway Cities to help high school seniors complete the FAFSA. These grants, totaling more than $550,000, follow an announcement that the state’s priority deadline to apply for Massachusetts financial aid via MASSGrant has been extended from May 1 to July 1, 2024. The grants announced last week are intended to support schools amid unique nationwide challenges with this year’s updated FAFSA. As of April 2024, 168,489 current or prospective college students in Massachusetts have completed the FAFSA, a decrease from 232,560 in April 2023.

At the federal level, the U.S. Department of Education is posting the latest information related to the 2024-25 Free Application for Federal Student Aid at FAFSA Fast News, a new blog on the Federal Student Aid web site.

2024 - 2025 Schedules - Staff have been working diligently with students on schedules for next year. If you are missing a class or have any questions, please see your Counselor.

Summer Term Pre-College Programs - Lots of colleges offer summer high school programs (Pre-college Programs) either online or in person at various grade levels (starting with rising 8th graders). You can earn college credit, discover a new subject area, perform cutting-edge research in University labs, or immerse yourself in hands-on learning. Summer is a great time to push yourself academically. Please ask your student to check their Guidance Google Classroom as summer opportunities at UMass Amherst, Syracuse University, Dean College, Marist, Boston University, Cornell University, and Champlain College have been posted. Please note, the summer term pre-college programs posted in Guidance Google Classroom are not exhaustive.

Juniors - Students should be researching different post-secondary pathways that interest them. All students are on Naviance and can use that platform to get started. Students are also encouraged to use Naviance to start building a resume.

Please note, there are scholarship opportunities for Grades 9 through 12. This page will be updated as new information is received or obtained. Students should continuously check their Guidance Google Classroom for scholarship opportunities and applications. Please note, the scholarship opportunities posted on the LHS website and in Guidance Google Classroom are not exhaustive. Guidance Google Classroom - ALL Grades should continuously check Guidance Google Classroom for summer programs, job opportunities, scholarship opportunities, testing dates and registrations (SATs, AP exams, ASVAB, etc.), career exploration events, and more.
