RNESU Meal Charge Procedure
Payments to student accounts for a la carte items and second meals are made by
families with a check to the school, with cash in person, or online through LINQ Connect.
1. A la carte items, including milk or a second entrée, are not allowed to be
charged; students must have cash in hand or funds in their account only.
● Families can check their account balances online via LINQ Connect (https://linqconnect.com/main).
Registration & Medical Information
As many of you are aware, RNESU instituted a new registration process this school year. As with many changes in technology, there have been some bumps along the way. One of them being some glitches in our ability to export emergency contact and medical data for our Nurse to access. Given that it will take some time to navigate the system and make necessary changes, we are sending paper emergency/medical forms home to be filled out and returned to school with your student on Monday. Our apologies to those of you who already completed the data in PowerSchool. We know that this is an added task in your already busy days. We ask that these forms be returned on Monday to ensure that Nurse Parker has current information on your student.
Household Income Form
The Vermont Agency of Education needs families to fill out the Household Income Form that can be found here: Household Income Form webpage. The Agency has created the Household Income Form (HIF) as a helpful tool to collect this specific census data when National School Lunch Program information is not available for a student. The data is used for a variety of educational purposes including calculation of pupil weights in the funding formula, determination of school poverty rates for Title I school eligibility, and educator loan forgiveness qualification. If you have not filled this out already, please do so at your earliest convenience. Thank you!
Dress for the Weather
Now that the weather is cooler in the mornings and warmer in the afternoons, please help your child(ren) choose appropriate clothing without needing a wardrobe change during class time to avoid a disruption to learning.
Fidgets
Fidgets can be helpful but can also be distracting. If your child is communicating the need for a fidget, please reach out to the classroom teacher to make a plan for fidget use in the classroom.
Arrival Information
The school day begins at 8:00 AM and ends at 2:45 PM There is supervision on campus beginning at 7:35 AM. Families dropping off children should do so in the lower parking lot when there is an adult present and after 7:35 AM. From September until Thanksgiving, all learners will have an outdoor recess until 7:55 AM. From November until April, grade level clusters take turns playing outside on the blacktop for morning recess. Learners who arrive after 8:05 AM must report to the office to sign in before going to class. The adult dropping off the learner should escort them to the office.
Please be aware that critical instruction begins at 8:00 AM. If your child is tardy, he or she is starting the day by missing academic instruction or social emotional learning and connections to their class. Please make sure your child arrives by 7:55 AM.
Transportation Note
Please send your student(s) to school with a note (if you haven't already done so) indicating their transportation plan for each day of the week. We understand that some students may be attending the after school program that is scheduled to begin on September 3rd. Please let the front office know if your child is enrolled in the program and what days they will be attending.
Dress Code for Learners
Learners are expected to dress for school in a manner that contributes to an environment that is conducive to learner learning and success. As the weather warms up be mindful of the dress code when sending students to school. The Student Handbooks states, "Dress should not expose the chest, abdomen, navel, buttocks, or underwear. Shoes must be worn at all times. Hats or hoods are ONLY allowed in classrooms with teacher permission." Thank you!
Toys, Games & Trading Cards
Please have students leave toys, games and Pokemon or other trading cards (or similar items) at home. Thank you!
Music Room News
Welcome back to music, Panthers! It's been a great first few weeks of music class. Kindergarten students have enjoyed singing our first few songs together, including "Wake Up You Sleepyhead" and "You are my Sunshine." First and Second graders have been learning the song "K-I-N-D" and getting to know the new singing buddies we have in the music room! Third and Fourth graders have been learning how to use Jump Bands as a team, which uses all of their steady beat and rhythm skills. Fifth and Sixth graders are preparing to start their new rock unit next week!
Band and Chorus
Band and Chorus will begin the afternoon of Friday, September 27th. Band lessons for fifth and sixth graders began this week. Fourth Graders will be receiving an instrument demonstration this week and paperwork will be going home for them to select an instrument!
Special Delivery
Last week, we received a special delivery through our "Music Drives Us" grant! 5 Electric guitars, 5 bass guitars, 5 electronic drum sets, 5 keyboards and one full drum kit were delivered though the grant. We also received headphones, guitar picks and guitar stands through many generous community donors. Thank you! We can't wait for you to see us ROCK!
