St. Columba's Primary School
NEWSLETTER | TERM 2 | WEEK 8 | 19 JUNE 2025
“For this new morning with its light, for rest and shelter of the night,
for health and food, for love and friends.
For everything Thy goodness sends, we thank Thee, dearest Lord. Amen.”
Dear Parents and Carers,
We extend our congratulations to our Year 6 students who received the Sacrament of Confirmation over the past two weekends. These occasions were reverent and joyful, marking an important step in the students’ faith journey. Thank you to Fr Nino, Mr Yock and the Year 6 teachers, and families for their support and preparation.
Enrolments continue to remain strong. Our Kindergarten cohorts for 2026 and 2027 are now full, with waitlists in place for both years. We thank families for their continued trust in our school.
On Tuesday, 10 June, I had the opportunity to attend the Priests and Principals Day at CEWA alongside Fr Nino. It was a valuable day of professional dialogue and shared vision for Catholic education across the Archdiocese.
A sincere thank you to our library monitors who recently organised and ran the book sale. The event was an overwhelming success and demonstrated both initiative and leadership from our senior students.
As part of our commitment to service learning, our Year 5 students have now officially joined the Mini Vinnies programme. This is an important step in fostering a sense of social justice and community outreach in alignment with our Catholic identity.
This term, we have introduced the Aussie of the Month award at St Columba’s. This initiative recognises students who exemplify the values of citizenship, kindness, and respect within our school community.
Improvements to our school grounds are continuing. Plumbing works are currently being undertaken around the Grotto near the Mary MacKillop mural to accommodate large potted plants. The surrounding wood frame will also be repainted as part of this update.
We are pleased to welcome Fr Nino back from his recent leave. Parish operations have now resumed as normal. The newly renovated Parish House has been completed and was recently blessed by the Archbishop—a wonderful milestone for our parish community.
Looking ahead to the upcoming school holidays, soft fall will be installed across the playground areas to enhance safety for our students. Additionally, the verandah outside the Year 2 and Year 3 classrooms will be painted to match existing structures, ensuring a consistent and well-maintained environment.
Thank you for your continued support of our school.
God bless, and keep safe.

Principal
