Welcome to Our Monthly PF & E Update

Dear CISD Families,

Welcome to the start of an exciting new school year! We are thrilled to have our students back and eager to embark on another year of learning, growth, and community. In this monthly newsletter, you’ll find important updates on the Parent and Family Engagement Center and all Parent and Family Engagement activities and opportunities.

We hope you find this newsletter informative and helpful as we kick off the year. Let’s make it a fantastic one together!

Vision

CISD Better Together; Building A Legacy of Excellence

Stronger Connections Grant

CISD has been awarded the Stronger Connections Grant. The purpose of the grant is to establish and improve school culture to produce strong relationships between staff and students, while addressing harmful, violent, and threatening behavior resulting in reductions in behavioral and disciplinary incidents, chronic absenteeism, incidents of bullying and harassment, and improved overall academic outcomes.


The center will be working off of referrals to help our students and families. Anyone can fill out the referral and all information is confidential.

Meet the Staff

Alison Alvarez -Parent and Family Engagement Director

I am a proud graduate of Colorado ISD. I earned my Early Childhood degree from Angelo State University and my Master's degree in Educational Leadership from Abilene Christian University. I have 20 years of experience in education in both teaching and administration. I taught Language Arts for eleven years at Colorado Middle School. I am married to my husband Jamie, who is also a Colorado ISD graduate, and we have 4 kids: Ramsey, Evyn, Merick and Lex. We also have two granddaughters, Rowyn and Austyn. I am excited to be back home at CISD and I look forward to helping all of our students and families.

Felsha' Biggers-Family Engagement Specialist

Born and raised in Colorado City, I've always maintained strong ties to the community, even after moving prior to middle school. I'm a proud graduate of Midwestern State University and earned my Master of Science in Nonprofit Administration from Louisiana State University-Shreveport. I spent 15 years as a social worker before transferring to the nonprofit sector. I'm embracing my new role as the family engagement specialist and hope to continue to make a positive impact in serving others. Outside of work, family is at the heart of my life. I'm a proud parent to Kerrington & Kheison, but my most cherished title is Honey to my adorable granddaughter, Kharter. When not spending time with family, I can be found cheering on my son in his sports, exploring new culinary delights as a foodie, or enthusiastically coaching the Dallas Cowboys from my couch.

WE ASKED-YOU ANSWERED-WE LISTENED

To help ensure that our families and community are working together, we will be sending out surveys throughout the year. These surveys will include:

  • General Surveys: Your opinion matters! For these surveys, we need your input on ways for us to help plan our future activities and best serve your family.
  • Activity Surveys: Anytime we have a PF & E activity or event, we will ask your thoughts. Please answer these quick surveys so that we can better meet your needs in the future.


When we survey-we will share the results! Your input is valued. We will take the results and do our best to accommodate our families for future activities and events. Due to the many activities we have, finding a "free" evening is almost impossible, but we will do our best. All surveys will be sent out through the Rooms app located on the Colorado ISD app. If you have not logged on, please do so. All information from the school will come through this app.

Congratulations to Crystal Correa! We appreciate all of the parents for attending the CES/CMS Open House this past Tuesday.
