Principal's Message

Greetings Elm Middle School Families,

Happy Friday! We hope everyone had a fantastic week! 8th grade absolutely crushed the Illinois Science Assessment this week! Great work! We're finishing up our assessments next week with NWEA Math and ELA benchmarking! Team, this is it! Let's show everyone how much you've grown this year! The data collected from these assessments will be used for placement for next year! Take some time this weekend and discuss with your students how important it is to take these assessments with fidelity to ensure students are recieving the appropriate academic supports as we begin planning for the 2025-2026 school year! You've got this, Cougars!!!

Don't forget, registration for returning students is open! Don't hesitate to reach out to our office team should you need any support with the registration process! Early bird enrollment will end on May 2nd. Get registered before then to take advantage of the discounted registration cost!

It's almost that time! We can't wait to celebrate our graduates! We know there are many things to plan for and attend! Here is a list of all of our 8th grade events, as we get closer to exam dates, we will have those added!

Cooking Class

Last COOKING CLASS of the year. Sign up to Cook with Ms. Cannici on Tuesday, May 20th.

The chefs will be making Naan and Chana Masala. Naan is a flat bread with a light and fluffy texture. Chana Masala is a chickpea curry dish, in a tomato-based sauce. It is a staple dish in India.

The class runs from after school till 5 pm and costs $30. Here is the link to sign up

Cougar Athletics

We're looking forward to another very exciting year of Cougar Athletics! The Leyden Norwood Athletic Conference schedule can be found here!

As a reminder, any student interested in participating in athletics at Elm this year, must have an active physical on file! Be sure to check with the nurse to ensure your student is able to tryout! Addtionally, take time to review the student and parent code of conduct from the Leyden Norwood Athletic Conference here. We will have annoucements for tryouts and athletics meetings as seasons are approaching!

Our goal is to provide as many opportunities as possible for our students to contribute to our school community not only inside the classroom but outside of it as well. We offer a wide variety of activities for our students to participate in! Encourage your Cougar to try something new or keep going with something they already have been!
