CMAS Testing, 3rd-5th Grade Only
- Next week we begin CMAS testing through the end of April. In addition to making sure your student gets a good night's rest and healthy breakfast in the morning, please be reminded that no cell phones, wireless headphones, or smart watches are allowed during testing. If your child has a cell phone that they must have with them, please make sure it is powered off and in their backpack. They may turn it back on at the end of each day. This is in accordance with our regular school policy.
- We will begin testing promptly at 8:15am. Any students arriving later than 8:15 will go to the library for the duration of testing and will have to make up for their missed test at a later date. Please plan on getting to school on time each day! For more information, please read this letter that was sent out via Blooms in January and February.
- If you have any questions, please email Anthony Bryant, Assistant Principal at anthony_bryant@dpsk12.net.
Earth Month Celebration - April!
Earth Day is important because it raises awareness about environmental issues, educates people about the importance of sustainability, and inspires collective action to protect the planet. 24-25 Inspire Class List - Student Highlight, Deadline 4/12/24
As we begin planning some details for next school year one of our important tasks is to create class lists. Staff spend considerable time creating recommendations for class lists. Factors that are considered are personality, group dynamics, academic needs, balanced class numbers, etc. Our WCT and SpEd teams also review the suggestions before class lists are sent for final review by Administration.
- Our staff know your children pretty well. However, we recognize how important it is for parents/guardians to share their thoughts about the needs of their children. Although we will NOT take requests for a specific teacher, we encourage parents to highlight what's important for their child. This information will be shared with the respective grade level ahead of creating recommendations for class lists.
- Note: As a matter of best practice, twins (triplets, etc.) and family members will be placed into different classrooms.
- Class lists will be finalized the week before school begins. Please keep in mind that School Choice programming allows students to unenroll and enroll throughout the summer, which affects our ability to finalize class lists until the end of summer.
- Complete a separate form for each child. Deadline to complete form: 4/12/24.
- Inspire Class List - Student Highlight

School Improvement
The concrete has been poured and is complete. It should be dried by Friday. We hope the concrete wrap around that now extends from the gym to the Galena side of the building will be helpful to our families on the east side of school!
Teacher Appreciation Week is the week of 5/6/24
Teacher Appreciation Week is just around the corner, taking place May 6-10! In celebration, DPS invites our students to recognize their favorite teachers by sharing what they love most about them. Please share this opportunity with students and ask them to share why they love their teachers by completing this short form by Friday, April 19. Please note that submissions may be featured on the DPS website and DPS social media pages (Facebook, Instagram, X, LinkedIn).
