News from the Principal
Greetings Knight Families,
We all had a blast at our Field Day and Bike Rodeo! Thank you parents for volunteering and coming to join in the festivities. We didn't let a little rain ruin our day and the students had so much fun! We enjoyed an old school field day with fun competitions of sack races, tug a war, relays, and much more. Thank you to Heather Shannon and our Office Crew for organizing the event. Officer Russell did an outstanding job of providing a bike safety lesson coupled with a fun obstacle course. We truly appreciate our Champion and Boerne HS students who came to volunteer their time running the stations. It was truly a team effort with an outstanding result!
Our Art Show was absolutely incredible! Mrs. Mallette is an incredible artist with so many creative abilities. The art show was a true wonderland of talent and so many students came and saw their masterpieces. Thank you, Mrs. Mallette, for all that you do to inspire our artists. Thank you families for supporting our Fine Arts programs and continuing to inspire creativity in our students.
Don't miss our GT showcase on Monday evening as our students display their masterful projects.
Thank you for the many kind words and notes on Principal Day. It is truly an honor to serve our Kendall community as Principal. I look forward to our continued partnerships.
I hope that you have an amazing weekend!

2024 Senior Walks May 16
Kendall Elementary is excited to host the Boerne and Champion Class of 2024 for their Senior Walk on Thursday, May 16 at 8am! This is a wonderful BISD tradition! For the first time ever, BHS and CHS seniors will walk at their selected elementary school simultaneously!
On the day of the walk the seniors will check in at the front office starting at 7:45am. At 8am, our Knights students will line the hallways and cheer on our graduating seniors as they walk through our school one last time.
Congratulations to the Class of 2024!
End of Year Ceremonies
Dear Parents,
We are so excited to award each child at Kendall Elementary for their individual qualities and success during our end of year ceremonies. As you have seen on the save the dates, we have time slots scheduled for each class ceremony to take place throughout the month of May. You will notice that the time slots are 30 minutes each. This means that the ceremonies will have to start and end on time to give each class the time they deserve to be recognized. Therefore, we want to communicate with you that it will be important to arrive on time, see your child’s ceremony, and help clear the area for the next group of parents to fill in. These ceremonies are for K-4th and will take place in the bus loop. Chairs will be set up for parents to watch comfortably. We need your help with the following guidelines to help the ceremonies run smoothly.
Arrive shortly before your child’s ceremony and wait near the front entrance
Please do not walk near the ceremony stage while a ceremony is in progress
Make your way to the parent seating area as soon as one ceremony ends and your child’s ceremony is about to begin
Feel free to take a picture of your child with our photo backdrop at the conclusion of the ceremony
Clear the area at the conclusion of the ceremony to allow the next class to fill in. Students will be continuing on with their normal schedule and instruction after their ceremony.
Parking will be limited, so please plan ahead.
Since this is hosted outside, no parent check-ins are needed.
Be aware of the ceremonies that end at 2:30 as it may impact the typical lineup of cars preparing for dismissal
Below is an additional copy of the save the dates and a map to help you navigate on the day of the ceremony. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the front office or Chelsea Allison at chelsea.allison@boerneisd.net or 830-357-4685. We appreciate your continued support and partnership!
MAP
5th grade will have a promotion ceremony separately on 5/23 and PK and Life Skills will be giving awards during their class parties on 5/22. Please reach out to homeroom teachers for more information on these events. Parent check-ins will be needed for these separate events.

This nine weeks, we're focusing on Relationship Skills in our guidance lessons and morning announcements! These skills are the foundation for a lifetime of healthy relationships! We will discuss various components that are all tied to forming healthy relationships. These components are communication skills (speaking and actively listening), respecting others, taking turns, sharing, and problem-solving through constructive conflict resolution when disagreements occur. Remember, these skills take practice, so celebrate your child’s efforts as you watch their friendships grow.

Knights on Duty
Mission
Knights on Duty is an organization consisting of Kendall Elementary School parents who want to be a positive influence to students and who are committed to supporting a safe and secure learning environment.
Job Duties
Knights on duty sign up for a three-hour shift in the morning or afternoon. During the shift, a knight may conduct perimeter checks, monitor campus activity including lunch/recess, sign up for a classroom visit, or fulfill other duties. The goal is to be watchful for suspicious activity on/around campus and to be a positive role model to students.
Management
The Knight’s on Duty program exists under the authority of Kendall Elementary School. All knights on duty must follow Boerne Independent School District policy and state law. The program is managed by the school resource officer.
Check In
Knights on duty will check in at the front desk. Each knight will be issued a lanyard and tag for identification, a radio for communication with staff, and an access card to get into the building. The knight will be briefed by the school resource officer on any campus activities or needs occurring during the knight’s shift.
Guidelines
Knights on duty are encouraged to be positive role models to students. This can happen a variety of ways including engagement during extracurricular activities or in student classrooms. In order to be respectful of the campus learning environment, classroom visits should be scheduled with teachers before the knight’s shift. A knight should refrain from joining a class or extracurricular activity without communicating with the faculty member in charge. All disciplinary issues are to be handled by faculty members only. If a disciplinary issue is observed, it should be promptly reported to a faculty member or the school resource officer. Report any emergency immediately. It is better to report a suspicious circumstance, accident, or disciplinary issue immediately than to ignore or put off the issue and take the chance that it will develop into a more severe problem.
If you would like to volunteer to be extra eyes and ears on campus, the first step is to ensure you have an up-to-date background check. You can start that process here: https://www.boerneisd.net/Page/11632
Once this is completed, please reach out to Officer James Russell sro.james.russell@boerneisd.net
