Spirit Tix for Sat! | Fall for Ross | Upcoming Events

We had so much fun at the Back-to-School Picnic last week! We hope you did, too. Thanks to everyone who brought delicious food and drinks!

This event was made possible, in part, by the generosity of Ross families, friends, teachers and staff who made donations to our PTA last year. Fall for Ross today, and help the PTA continue to deliver strong programs to support our school!

Pay it Forward - Donate to Your PTA to Support Ross!

Donate to the Fall for Ross fundraising campaign today, and help the PTA continue to support our wonderful school! Our goal is to raise $50,000 this fall by having 100% of Ross families donate. We ask families to consider giving at least $50/month ($600 annually). We understand this isn’t possible for everyone. No amount is too small to help your PTA maintain its strong programs!

Everyone who makes a monetary donation through this campaign will receive a coupon for a free Pupatella pizza. And everyone who donates before Oct. 10 will be entered to win a drawing for a free pizza dinner for 6 at Pupatella's Dupont restaurant.

The PTA uses the funds raised in the prior year to support programming for the current year. This programming includes:

Offsetting Ross's operational expenses, enabling Principal Searl to invest more of Ross's DCPS budget in staffing,
Hosting community-building events, like the Back-to-school Picnic, Spooktacular Halloween celebration, and Family Bingo Night, and
Funding teacher and staff appreciation activities.

$15 Tickets for Saturday! Women's Soccer + Fireworks ⚽🎆

The Ross PTA has reserved a block of discounted tickets ($15 ea) for the Washington Spirit game vs. Houston Dash this Sat. Oct 1 at 7PM. If you haven't seen our city's incredible professional women's soccer team play, now's your chance! And there will be fireworks after the game!

If your family would like to attend, but is unable to cover the cost, please let Principal Searl know (or reply to this email). The PTA has scholarship tickets available.

Oct 12 - Walk & Roll to School Day

Join us and participate in National Walk & Roll to School Day!

Plan to walk to school with other Ross families and special guests on the morning of Wed. Oct 12. Details to come.

Oct 27 - Spooktacular Halloween Celebration

Mark your calendars for 5 pm on Thurs, Oct 27th! Ross kids and families will meet in costume on the Ross playground for fun and games. We will then head out for a Trick or Treating Parade, supported by local businesses on 17th St.

An afterparty that includes dinner is also in the works. Get ready to make a night of it with the Ross community and enjoy this festive Ross annual tradition!

Take Action: Support the "Right to Read Amendment"

Take two minutes to take action in support of an amendment that is before the DC Council to ensure every DCPS school has a full-time librarian.

The proposed "Right to Read Amendment Act" is now with Chairman Mendelson to bring up for a vote. If this does not make it to a vote before the upcoming election, it will never come up for a vote.

Volunteer Opportunity: DC Feeds Haiti, Oct 15, 12-2PM

Join fellow Ross families and help pack meals for needy families in Haiti, through the DC Feeds Haiti packathon event on Oct. 15. You can register with the Ross group, Team Gryffindor, and volunteer from 12-2pm.
