TRIUMPH 6TH GRADE FOOD TRUCK PROJECT
Makerspace teacher, Ms. Teenyanoff, and math teacher, Ms. Maillet created a mini-business and math experience for the 6th graders on team Triumph. Groups of 3-4 students were given $500 of pretend money to purchase supplies Hannaford for food to be served in an imaginary food truck. They had to create a logo for their truck and a menu of real food items with prices. The menu had to reflect the actual costs of items at Hannafords and had to provide some profit. The project had students researching recipes and calculating potential expenses and profits, assuming they sold what they had.
The last phase of the project was to have the students circulate around to each of the groups to review the menus and to purchase items with the left over cash from their original $500 amount, or from cash they brought in from sales from their food truck to students from other groups. Next week they will calculate their expenses and income to see which group(s) were the most successful marketing their food items and collecting money.
13 Pictures were Taken during the marketing and purchasing phase of the project.
USA 8TH GRADE AND EXPLORERS 2ND GRADE RESET FOLDERS
Ms. Bogart and Ms. Fitzgerald paired up their 8th and 2nd grade students to create reset folders. The goal was for students to be able to open and use the contents of their folders to return their minds to a state that would optimize learning. They were able to find images and resources on line or from old magazines to populate the folders. The older and younger students worked at tables together to inpire each other to focused, fun work.
