Maple Grove Fox Report

One of my favorite parts about being a part of this amazing school and community is the fall colors we are surrounded by here! We are outside exploring, learning, and growing all the time. Different grades are learning everything from shadows, wind, butterfly migration, milkweeds, worm migration, water testing, invasive species, plant and tree identification, and so much more. The learners have absorbed so much learning and knowledge and have learned to explore and appreciate our natural world around us!

Thank you to everyone who attended conferences tonight and we look forward to seeing everyone else next Tuesday, Oct. 11. A BIG THANK YOU to all families who donated for the dinners for the teachers! It was much appreciated by everyone!

Learners have set new goals and should be started on their Oct. reading logs. Our learners who met their September Reading Goal should have turned it into their classroom teacher. Those that met their goal will be part of our reading incentive next Friday where we will be having a Tie-Dye Party!

With the changing weather please make sure you send your child with warm enough clothes to be outside for up to 90 min at a time with our Friday Labs, including mittens and a hat. If you can, please also send them with some rubber boots if they plan to play in the woods or mud as we are starting to track lots of mud inside.

Our next PTO meeting is on Monday, Oct. 10 at 5:00. We will be focusing heavily on the upcoming Fall Family Night Event and could use lots of volunteers! We will also be discussing apparel sales and upcoming fundraisers.

Each learner has a one-to-one chrome book that is is sporadically throughout the day. Our K-2 learners leave them at school each day and they get charged and ready to use for the next day. The 3-5 grade chrome books were purchased with a grant that requires them to be sent home nightly. It is the learners responsibility to charge them each night and make sure they are ready to go for the next days learning. Typically we do not assign other homework other than our nightly reading so what can they do with them at home? All 3-5 grades work on typing skills in this could be practiced in google docs. They could also work on some math skills in Dreambox or xtramath.org, or practice their stewardship in freerice.com.

We have one open position on our Board of Directors available! This is a great

opportunity to get involved in our school! Members promote Maple Grove's mission,

oversee the goals of the charter contract and communicate with school leadership to

support staff and students.
