Community Education offers award-winning senior program
The Community Education Department has been awarded a 2024 Regional Project Award by the Minnesota Community Education Association (MCEA) for their Community Senior Lunch program. Partnering with the City of New Brighton, these lunches are designed to foster social connections and improve the well-being of adults aged 55+.
The lunches are attended by an average of more than 115 people and topics range from live entertainment to activities like bingo and educational speakers.
Senior lunches will continue this winter. Stay tuned for future offerings at mvpschools.org/communityed.
Training and placement for high-demand jobs
Two students in the Commercial Drivers License program (CDL) in the District's Adult Basic Education (ABE) program participated in site tours at American Student Transportation last week, potentially leading to employment driving buses for the District. We are proud to partner with local businesses to offer a unique path to employment for our adult students. This includes hands-on training at no cost thanks to partnerships like this with American Student Transportation.
These types of partnerships offer jobs currently in high demand and offer employment prospects immediately after certification.
Mounds View ABE empowers adults to enhance their skills, advance in their careers and prepare for further education. Other training programs ABE offers at no cost are for Certified Nursing Assistants, paraprofessionals and CompTIA technology accreditation.

Of the five Standard Response Protocol (SRP) actions, HOLD is the most used. During a hold, students remain in classrooms and lessons continue.
Mounds View Public Schools uses common languages and practices throughout all buildings and with emergency responders. This simplified language, called Standard Response Protocol, proactively identifies five possible actions that could be required during an incident or an emergency. Learn more at mvpschools.org/srp.
