West Point El. Parent Update
Week of August 4, 2024
Dear West Point Families,
We are officially counting down to the first day of school and are so excited to welcome your students back for a magical 2024-2025 school year.
Here are four important things to know as we get ready for the new school year.
- Class lists were made available on August 1 on myDSD. Please prepare your student for a successful year by reassuring them that they will have a great learning experience this year and will make new friends in their class. We have an amazing staff, and your students will be well cared for!
- We are now accepting applications for our 2024-2026 Community Council. Applications can be found below and are due by Friday, August 23. If needed, voting will take place the following Monday - Wednesday. Please see below for additional information.
- Be sure to sign all electronic documents on your myDSD account.
- Back to School Night is Tuesday, August 13 from 5:30-7:00. It will be Open House style.
We are looking forward to the new year where every day is a great day to be a Wildcat!
Sincerely,
Marjorie Conrad and Christie Bouy
Principal and Assistant Principal, West Point Elementary

Experience the Magic
This year our theme is Experience the Magic. Magic stands for Manners, Attentiveness, Gratitude, Inclusiveness, and Confidence. Each month we will be focusing on one of the attributes. Students will have the opportunity to "letter" each month by completing a task to earn that month's letter for their brag tag ring. More information to follow in September.
PTA Information
PTA Information
Everyone is invited to attend the first PTA meeting of the year on Friday, August 9. We will be meeting at 9:30 a.m. in the Faculty Room. After the meeting, volunteers will stuff First Day folders for back to school.
Please stop by our PTA table at Back-to-School Night. We will be giving away free popsicles to everyone who stops by to sign up for the PTA (and their families, of course!). We hope all of our families will join the PTA and become involved in some way, whether big or small.
School Information
Community Council
The Community Council is made up of teachers, parents, and administration who meet five times during the year. Serving on the council is a great way to partner with the school as we consider how to best meet the needs of our students. The Community Council also oversees the expenditure of our Trustland funds.
Applications will be accepted August 5 through August 23 at 4 p.m. The application is attached below, and copies are available in the office. Applications can be submitted via email to mconrad@dsdmail.net or turned in at the main office. With your application, please include a short paragraph introducing yourself and why you would be an asset to the West Point Elementary Community Council. This information will be shared along with the ballot.
Elections will be held Monday, August 26 through Wednesday, August 28 at 4:00 pm via myDSD. The results will be announced in the Weekly Newsletter on September 1. Our first meeting will be Wednesday, September 18 at 5:30 p.m. in our Conference Room.
Back to School Night
We will be providing every student in the school a free school t-shirt again this year! Teachers will have a sign up sheet in their classrooms at Back to School Night. When you come, be sure to write your child's name and t-shirt size. Our PTA has designed the shirts and will order them for us as soon as we have all the sizes. We want all of our students to be able to participate in school spirit day every Friday!
Bell Schedule
The first bell rings at 8:50 a.m., school begins at 8:55 a.m., and school ends at 3:30 p.m. Early out days end at 1:30 p.m.
Outside supervision begins at 8:35 a.m., which is 15 minutes before the first bell. Students should not arrive at school before this time unless they are eating breakfast at school. Breakfast begins at 8:20 a.m. Students who are eating breakfast at school should enter the lunchroom door on the south side of the building.
Drop Off and Pick Up Procedures
Please follow the procedures below to keep everyone safe and to expedite the process of dropping off and picking up students.
Volunteering and Background Checks
All adults planning to attend field trips or volunteer in the classroom are required to sign the Volunteer Agreement (electronic document on myDSD) and to complete a background check with Davis School District. Please refer to this document for instructions on how to schedule an appointment. Who Needs A Background Check?
