Kia ora Parents and Caregivers
We are sending home this afternoon a 'Being Sun Smart at Onekawa School' notice (it's included below as well).
Speaking of being outside, our children have had lots of fun this week outside, including swimming and taking part in a variety of sports. Pictured below is our Manaaki and Manawanui teams taking part in 'Ki o Rahi'.
Have a wonderful weekend!

Structured literacy information evening
Kia ora parents and caregivers
A huge thanks to those who were able to attend this week's structured literacy information evening. Approximately 60 parents attended which was awesome (see photo below). We really enjoyed sharing with you the exciting learning that takes place at Onekawa School.
The Moveathon is back! - Tuesday 15 November
You may be wondering “what is a Movethon?”. The focus of the Moveathon is for children to be moving for 45 minutes carrying out various fun activities. There will be music, dancing, walking, hopping and jumping – just to name a few activities. We will have a few run throughs in the next few weeks so children will be able to tell you more about it then.
We would really appreciate it if every child can collect donations for completing this fun event.
Sponsor forms were sent home with your child last week. If you need another one, you can collect it from the school office.
Money raised will contribute towards our 'playscape' development, which we intend to start in the next few months.
Parents and caregivers are very welcome to attend and watch the fun. Children are encouraged to wear their house colours for the event. There will also be house points awarded and spot prizes handed out!
Team Pipi Meeting - Monday 7 November
New members are most welcome to attend. Team Pipi is a great way to meet new parents. We hope to see you there!
School Swimming Pool
Please have your children bring their togs and towel to school every day of the week.
A big thanks to Mr Heal for preparing and maintaining the pool to a high standard!
Check out this awesome mahi from students in Room 5!

Congratulations to our week 3 class certificate winners!
Road Safety Outside School
A particular cause of concern is the Menin Road/Gallipoli Road intersection. Please keep a special watch out for children in this area.
Once again, we thank most adults who stay off yellow lines and park safely. We really thank you for helping to keep our children safe.
Kingsley and Mr Heal put together this awesome Mud Kitchen for the students in Hiwa!
