Counselor Connection
Hello Jackson Families,
Please check out the following book, “Lucy’s Mask”, which may help students who are struggling with wearing a mask.
”Suddenly, masks are everywhere. Are your kids confused and anxious about wearing a mask? Lucy's world turned upside down. She's bored. She can't be together with her friends. But when she finds out her mom is making her a new mask her boredom turns into excitement. Lucy loves masks! She dives into her toy box full of costumes and opens a world of imagination and make-believe adventure, far beyond the walls of her room. Of course, she doesn't realize that the mask her mom is making is not a costume at all but one that will keep her safe and make her a real-life superhero. For parents, grandparents and teachers searching for stories that give kids comfort and reassurance about the sudden changes around them, Lucy's Mask is a welcome new addition to reading time. This book is not a science lesson. It's a simple fun story that helps kids make sense of their emotions and makes this new reality more relatable and less scary. It is a wonderful tool to continue the conversation about germs, viruses, the pandemic, and what families have to do to keep themselves safe.”—Author Lisa Thompson

Academic Reminders
This is a reminder that we will receive a communication on Friday morning that will inform us if we are going to be virtual or face-to-face for the coming week. If we receive notification that we will be continuing in virtual status, we want to have a plan in place for getting new materials to you.
On Friday, August 14, we are requesting that work completed by our face-to-face learners be dropped off at the school between the hours of 12:00 PM and 5:30 PM. We will also have resources and materials that will be needed for the upcoming week ready to be picked up at that time. Your child's teacher(s) will be communicating the specific items that need to be returned. As a reminder, completion of work will serve as evidence of student attendance while we are virtual.
We will use our drive-thru drop-off and pickup method at Jackson on Friday. Please pull into the Jackson parking lot and pull to the front of the school. Simply stay in your car and a staff member will place your child’s completed work in the correct teacher’s box and provide you your child’s new materials.
