Testing Season
It's Coming!
Dear Raider Nation,
Last newsletter, I acknowledged the transition from Winter to Spring. In this issue, I address testing season, which for those of you unfamiliar with the term, runs from April to pretty much the end of school. Shortly after we return from Spring Break, we will start administrations of State-mandated exams and then transition eventually to AP tests and close out the year with final exams. Teachers of specific courses will provide more information, but here's what you should plan for:
- Algebra 2: Week of April 15th
- English 10: Week of April 22nd
- American Government: Week of May 6th
- Algebra & Biology: Week of May 20th
AP exams will run from May 6th-May 17th. The day by day breakdown can be found at the Collegeboard website. Please note that, since schools will be used for voting on May 14th, exams scheduled for that day have been moved. The Physics C: Mechanics exam will be at noon on 5/22 and the English Language exam will take place at 8am on 5/23.
Final exam dates will be communicated as we set our last day of school (I think we're done with inclement weather days, but you never know).
If you have any questions or concerns regarding testing, feel free to reach out to your child's counselor and/or administrator. Thanks.
Sincerely,
Nick Novak
Principal
Important Information-New
New Late to School Procedures
We're in our 1st full week of the new late to school procedures and the students are becoming acclimated to the new expectations for scanning in at the front lobby if they arrive after 7:50am. We are able to process students very quickly using the self-service kiosks, but what would make things run even smoother is if we had fewer students arriving late. Please help us reduce student tardiness by ensuring your student arrives at school with enough time to get to class (not just inside the school) by 7:50am. Thanks.

Important Information-Reposting
Black History Month Assembly Rescheduled
Our Black History Month Assembly was scheduled for February 22nd, but, due to some technical difficulties, we postponed the event to ensure our program was ready for our audiences. The assemblies will be held on March 13th in a modified half-day schedule. We look forward to seeing our students' hard work and celebrating Black History.
Help AHS Recycle More and Earn a New Trex Bench
Send in your plastic bags and plastic over wrap (around water bottle cases) with your student and have them place it in one of their teachers' Plastic Bag Recycling Bins or the Big White Recycling Bin in the vestibule out front. You could help the Green team earn a New Trex Bench! You would also be saving all of the plastic bags and plastic film from the landfill Not sure what can be recycled? Check out the flyer below. Any questions about this program, see Mrs. Schwab.

Modeling Sportsmanship
With Spring Sports starting, I wanted to take a moment to share what may be some of the best public service announcements ever made. The videos are for the Canadian Hockey Association, but could just as easily apply to any of our sports. Thanks for being a fan and not a fanatic.
