Today we get to celebrate Logan Telford. Telford, a social worker at Provo High, received the Provo Way award in April, 2024. Telford is a caring and compassionate social worker who earnestly helps the students and staff he works with. “Logan is a friend. He’s a friend to the students, he’s a friend to the staff,” says Jeff Gomm, the Provo High School Psychologist. “It takes time to get to know people and their circumstances. Summer Break is our greatest opportunity to conserve energy and save money. Please remember the following during the upcoming summer break:
- Turn off & unplug all electronics i.e., Computers, projectors, microwaves, document cameras, DVD players, printers, copiers, sound systems, etc.
- Empty, unplug, and prop the door open of personal refrigerators
- Ensure setback on thermostat to 80 degrees or unoccupied if in a portable or office
- Close window blinds
- Shut down all computer labs
- Do NOT shut off network switches, interactive TVs or routers

The Custodial Services Department would like you to remember a few key things going into the summer. Please remember the following:
- Custodial days and hours often change during June and July. Many schools will not have Custodians in the buildings on Fridays due to the 4/10’s schedule.
- Custodial hours often shift to the early mornings rather than the afternoons and evenings during the summer.
If you choose to enter the schools in June and July, please help us with the following:
- Please lock and latch any doors that you open in the schools–Do not prop open exterior doors.
- Please turn off any lights that you turn on in classrooms or common areas before you exit.
- Air conditioning will only be scheduled on for District/school-sanctioned events. Air conditioning will be provided in all areas of the building where employees are REQUIRED to work. Air conditioning may not be available in individual classrooms/offices where employees are not contractually obligated to be working.
- Please be mindful of areas that are posted as “DO NOT ENTER” zones. These areas are closed for cleaning and restoring activities and must be observed until the signs are removed.
- Please contact the Head Custodian immediately if you see, hear, smell, or experience anything that seems problematic or out of the ordinary or if you need emergency access to an area that is posted as closed.

We are pleased to announce that the Provo City School District nurses will be offering CPR/First Aid and Stop the Bleed certification sessions this summer. These sessions are vital for emergency preparedness and will equip you with the necessary skills to respond effectively in critical situations. The Provo City School District Department of Title I and Title III is now offering a competency-based ESL Endorsement for all interested teachers. Participants will complete courses in Canvas to demonstrate competency in the five Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) domains: language acquisition; cultural diversity; planning and implementing instruction; assessment and evaluation; and professionalism and leadership. With summer approaching, here is a quick explanation of our summer schedule and holidays for those employees on a 242 day contract. We will once again be utilizing a four-10 schedule with 10 hour work days Monday – Thursday. Find dates and details on the Employee Website. Post exp.5.27

The Colonial Heritage Festival is an amazing opportunity to step back in time and be part of colonial America in the time leading up to the Revolutionary War and the Founding of the United States of America. We need people to help set up on July 2 at Scera Park in Orem, take down on July 8, and fulfill multiple shifts at the festival on July 4,5,6 (the festival shift require you to “dress the part” which we can help you with ). This summer the technology department in conjunction with Google will perform a merger of the Student Google workspace into our main workspace taking the district from two Google Workspaces down to one. This merger is needed for several reasons, but the main reason is to simplify the future workflow so that teachers are not juggling two different email domain logins for mission critical apps and products. More information will be emailed out to students, parents, employees, and school administration.
