Viking News - The Week of 8/26/2024

The Week of March 24th, 2025
Happy Friday, RMHS Students and Families,
This past week, the RHS Seniors began their culminating reflection and experiences with the HS Assembly theme of "Moments Matter", sharing some of the moments in their school lives that have shaped who they are and what they strive to become. Their genuine, heartfelt testimonies were inspiring for all of us to consider as we look for ways to embrace the people in our lives and strive to make the most of the opportunities that exist within the school and community. To end the Assembly, senior RHS musicians, Jaelyn Young and Clara Knowles, joined by underclassmen, Charlie Telles and Savvy Hopkins, graced us with a stellar performance that brought many of us to tears. Having the privilege and honor to watch the growth and celebrate both success and failures with students and families along this journey is a great gift and I applaud the seniors for their willingness to be vulnerable about the individual journeys they have cultivated over these past years. I am excited to continue the Spring of celebration as we prepare to graduate this extraordinary group on May 30, 2025! 🎓🎉
RMS is at the early stages of building the relationships and gaining a deeper understanding of the impact on school to their longer-term lives. At this past week's RMS Assembly, we focused on the importance of building trusting relationships with the adults in our lives so that students can learn to lean on people as they navigate through the various stages of middle/high school. RMS Spirit month has brought another Friday of laughs as students had fun today carrying 'anything but a backpack' 🎒! They are gearing up for next Friday's finale as we end the month with a pep rally full of friendly competition in the gym. A huge thank you to Ms. McAuliffe, Ms. Stein, and the RMS Student Council for hosting this month of fun for us all to enjoy!
The RHS Class of 2027 is hosting the annual Semi-Formal dance at the Elks tomorrow (Saturday, March 22nd). All students attending will meet at the school by 6:15 to check in and board the buses. Please see full details below if you have bought a ticket to attend.
Grade 10 students will be participating in ELA MCAS this coming Tuesday and Wednesday. Please note that HS Assembly will not be held this week due to the schedule changes impacted by MCAS. Please see details below and remember to be in school and on time for these state-required exams.
Come out in support of the RMS Theater program this coming Thursday, Friday and Saturday for their upcoming production. See below for the dates, times and details. We are excited to see another phenomenal performance 😀
Here's to a great week ahead! 😎

A few reminders as you prepare for these important dates in your educational career:
MCAS is computer-based once again this year. Teachers have been having you practice during class. Please be sure you are taking advantage of this practice and asking questions if you have concerns about the platform.
Please make sure to be in school and on time on testing days - Showing up is half the battle!
Do your best work possible and come in with a positive attitude.
Listen/read carefully to all test-taking directions and ask questions if any directions are unclear.
Breathe, take your time and do the best you can. You have the skills you need to be successful on this exam so come in with a clear and open mind! I have full faith you will all do well
It is essential that you come to school prepared and ready to take the exam. If you have any questions about the MCAS subject matter, please contact your subject-specific teacher. If you have questions about attendance or other procedural aspects of the exam, please contact Ms. King.
Help select America's Favorite Teacher!
Mrs. Favazza, middle school computer science and engineering teacher, is competing to become the 2025 "America's Favorite Teacher." The grand prize includes cool stuff like a trip to Hawaii, money, and a feature in Reader's Digest, but also (drumroll please...) an assembly for their school with Bill Nye!!! Anyone with a facebook account can vote for free once each day through the elimination phase, and she'll move on to the finals if she's in first place in her group as of April 3rd. She is currently in 1st place. Please vote, share, and vote again! https://americasfavteacher.org/2025/alexandria-favazza
PreK - Scribblebots
Mrs. Favazza's 8th Grade class had an absolute blast building and testing their bots with the preschoolers. Lots of fantastic troubleshooting and everyone had a successful scribbler by the end!

RHS Graduation – Friday, May 30, 2025 at 5 pmWhy Attendance Matters
Being in school and on time are extremely important to your child's success. When students attend school regularly and arrive on time, they stay engaged in their learning, build strong relationships, and develop solid study habits. Please help us by making sure your child gets to school on time each day. The cafeteria and library are open at 7:00 am and free breakfast is available in the cafeteria for all students. The main hallways and classrooms open at 7:25 am.
School Safety Reminder
The school campus is closed to the public when school is in session and after 10:00pm nightly. This includes the use of the tennis courts, track, playgrounds, athletic fields and all other parts of the campus. This does not include families and community members attending school events in our schools or on our school grounds. We appreciate the community's understanding and support as we continue to prioritize the safety of RPS students and staff.
Spring 2025 Half Day Schedule
School Breakfast
Breakfast is an important way to start a productive day. We encourage all students to arrive early enough to get breakfast before school begins if possible. For those students not able to get to school early on any given day, we will provide a set time in the morning to be sure breakfast is accessible to all. Breakfast and lunch continue to be free for students this year.
