As a part of the district's Capital Plan 2027, MPE will be undergoing a major media center renovation, with construction beginning shortly after the last day of school. In addition to new shelving and furniture, the physical space is being completely rebuilt with walls torn down, collaboration spaces and a projects lab being built, and more! We have been directed by the district to shut down operations of the media center to begin the pack up of books and materials on March 1. The final day for student checkout is tomorrow, February 14. Specials classes for Kindergarten and 1st grade will continue through the end of the school year, but students will not be able to check out books. We know this minor inconvenience will pay off when we kick off the school year with a beautiful new space for learning, reading, and technology.

We are writing to inform you about a new student survey that will be conducted at your child’s school. The survey, which will be open from February 3 through March 31, includes 27 questions. It should take students approximately 10 minutes to complete, and it asks about the quality of teaching and learning, the school environment, support for students, and how commonly students in the school face challenges (such as being bullied). Names cannot be tied to survey answers in any way, and students can skip any question. The data will help leaders improve the school.
The Protection of Pupil Rights Amendment (PPRA), 20 U.S.C. § 1232(c)(1)(A) gives you the right to review a copy of the student survey questions. You may review the survey questions at this link. Additionally, you may request that the school provide a copy of the survey questions for your review.
The PPRA also gives you the right to opt your child out of participating in the survey. If you do not wish for your child to participate, please email Mrs. Richardson at richardsona3@fultonschools.org

During the month of March all students will receive the Think First & Stay Safe™ program. This is a program that is implemented every year to help educate students on personal safety. Please read the document provided for more information. If you choose to opt your child out of the program, please return the opt-out letter by March 5th. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to Mrs. Daniel at danielc3@fultonschools.org.
When your child is absent from school due to illness or an appointment, please be sure to send an excuse note to mpeattendance@fultonschools.org. This will ensure our attendance office receives your excuse and can update your student's record accordingly. Remember that teachers can only mark students absent or present and cannot update absences. Absences will be updated within a few days of the excuse note being sent. I realize that the attendance letters detailing number of days absent can be unsettling. Please note that these are sent automatically from the district. Although they do have my name in the signature line, they are not from me. I do not send them or know when they are being sent.
