Updates & info
Ofsted inspection this week Thank you so much to all the families who have supported the school this week through our 2-day graded inspection. The HMI shared the results from the Parent View survey, with so many positive comments coming through. Extra special thanks to those who have sent in treats for the staff to enjoy and the very kind words in the cards.
The judgements are confidential until the final report comes through, which can take up to 30 days. As soon as this is through we will be sharing it with families.
STAR MAT parent survey Not the best timing straight after asking families to complete the Parent View survey, but the STAR MAT parent survey will go live next week from 29.4.24 to 17.5.24. The STAR MAT surveys run every 2 years as a 'full' version, with a 'pulse' mini version in the other year. Instead of the version used in 2022, the parent survey has been moved over to the Edurio system, which is the same system used for the pupil survey for Years 4, 5 & 6. This gives quicker results and reports that are much clearer. We will send out the link next week when it is shared with us.
Reception parents' evening (video calls) will be taking place next week on Tuesday, postponed from this week. We have manually booked everyone in for the same times, so the link should arrive 24 hours before. Thank you for your patience while we have made the arrangements.
Rag Bag clothing bank We have booked in a collection as the bank is full: if you have any textiles ready to go in, please hang on and we will let you know once it is empty again. Thank you.
Contacting school Please can we remind you that all messages about absence, medicine, appointments & changes to after school picks ups must come through the school office either by phone 01757 704308 or email admin@bp.starmat.uk. Messages through Dojo don't work if a member of staff is absent, and also staff do not have their phones with them in the classrooms while they are working with the children so they can't always pick them up.
Term dates 2023-24 & 2024-25 The term dates for this year and next year are on the school website at https://brayton-cofe-primary-school.secure-primarysite.net/term-dates/
Jewellery No necklaces, bracelets, rings or other jewellery should be worn to school. If your child has earrings, these must be removed for PE sessions, or earrings can be left at home on PE days. Earrings for school should be small stud types so they don't get caught and cause any injuries.
Free school meals: save up to £450 a year Apply online at https://fisportal.northyorks.gov.uk/Synergy/fsm_prereq.aspx The application is very straightforward and there are only a few questions to answer. All the information is on the NYCC website at https://www.northyorks.gov.uk/free-school-meals
If you would like any advice or support with this, please contact the school office. We treat these matters with complete confidentiality and are always happy to help if needed.

Whole School Attendance
The national attendance charts are back! Another great week with attendance at 96.6%, hopefully we can keep this up through to July. The DFE is taking an increasingly tough stance on school attendance, with previous guidance becoming law from September 2024, bringing a bigger role for the Attendance Enforcement team. Attendance was an important focus within our Ofsted inspection this week, with the HMI looking closely and at the level of individual case studies.
Please remember, we will always contact you if your child is unwell during the day, so please make sure they are here as much as possible. With your help we made massive improvements in attendance over last year and this is now better across school than it has been in a very long time!
We would also remind you that, according to the new guidance for schools, ANY leave for holidays should be unauthorised: there is no longer the 'up to 5 days/10 sessions' which can be authorised at the Headteacher's discretion. Last year we put forward 38 requests for Fixed Penalty Notices to be issued, which the Local Authority have advised us that they have actioned.
