February 8th
From the Desk of Ms. Costello
Last Wednesday, our kids participated in fun service projects with their school buddies. One of those activities was making kindness rocks. Students were encouraged to write a message of encouragement or decorate a picture that would bring happiness to someone who happened upon the rock this spring.
Let me share a few of these special messages that our students came up with on their own: "Trust that GOOD things will happen", "You are loved", "You matter", and then my personal favorite, " You haven't met all of the people who are going to love you." When you give students the time and space to be loving and creative, they respond. We, as a school, are an extension of what you teach at home.
Keep up the good work!
Covid Tests Available by Request
We are noticing an uptick in Covid cases the last two weeks. Our main office has access to Covid testing kits. If you are interested in receiving one, just stop by the main office or send us an email to send a kit home with your child.
A helpful reminder about our "out sick" policy: Middle school students should email their teacher and check Google Classroom. If there is paper that needs to be picked up, they can do so outside of the Assistant Principal's office on the day of the absence.
Primary and Intermediate students may receive assignments from other students or their teacher will collect their assignments for when they return. Teachers may send home assignments but that is not the expectation or requirement.
For however many days a student is absent, they have that many days to make up their missing work. Example- If you are sick for two days, you have two days to make up the assignment before it is considered late.

With two tournaments and lots of make-ups from the regulation games, it was a busy weekend for ECS MAISL Basketball. Congratulations to the 5th grade boys in their tournament at SMG. They started off the tournament playing against each other and the Gold Team went on to get 3rd place. The 8th grade girls who co-op with St. James won their tournament with a buzzer beater basket. Great work girls!
