Theater Solo and Ensemble
Several high school students participated in Theater Solo and Ensemble. They prepared two show tune style songs of contrasting nature, and sang them in front of a judge on Saturday, November 16th. They all received High ratings 1’s and 2’s. Congratulations Jenna Hendricks, Jess Lee, Ovelia Taylor, Amber Terry, Connor Bush, Madison Campos, Rylee Brown, Suryia Wilson, Kaden Balch, Kaylee Cooper, Bella Newcomb, Kayleigh Warmbold, Alexis DeLaney, Lilian Harrison and Cassidy Almy.
WMU String Day
Members of the high school Symphony Orchestra were able to attend Western Michigan University’s String Day on November 20th and were immersed in the music of students and professors. Students got to listen to other high school students perform and get feedback from the college professors, sit in on a professional rehearsal, and work first hand with professors through a technique class. Students learned tricks to help them grow musically, and shared their insights all day long. Kailey mentioned “my favorite experience was being able to listen to a lot of classical music that sounded beautiful. Especially the music about the Greek gods. It was a fun experience that I would recommend to anyone.” Devon added, “I found the lectures to be very valuable, and the professors encouraged me to try harder and aim to achieve more than what I already do.” It was a short yet inspiring day of music, and we look forward to it every year!
