With less than a month of school left before the summer break, there are only three spirit day Fridays to go. Friday, May 29th would have been Field Day at RES. As such, this Friday's spirit day is a sports theme. Wear college, professional, or your own sports team’s gear and submit your photo to the shared Google album! This is a friendly reminder that there is no distance learning on Monday, May 25th in observance of Memorial Day. Whatever your plans, enjoy the well-deserved break!

Great News! This year we will be offering the SchoolKidz Teacher Tailored supply kit program which offers pre-packaged, school supply kits filled with the exact supplies requested by your child’s teacher. Why fight the hassle of retail when the kits are a cost-effective and convenient way of purchasing your back-to-school supplies? Skip the lines and hassle of stores and order your supplies with Teacher Tailored! Kits will be delivered directly to your home. The SchoolKidz program gives parents a way to stay home and be prepared for when learning resumes. Ordering information will be coming soon.

Any K-11 students who have borrowed a Chromebook should keep that Chromebook at home over the summer. Chromebooks will be returned when schools reopen.

Please be advised that the last day of “new” learning for seniors will be Friday, June 5th, and the last day of “new” learning for K-11 students will be Tuesday, June 9th. CR teachers will generally be available to provide student make-up work and to assist with extra help on June 10th-12th and June 15th-16th. Please know, however, that during this period of time our teachers will return to school on a rotating basis to close out their classrooms while adhering to social distancing guidelines, and thus will not be available at all times during these days to provide immediate assistance. I thank you in advance for accommodating our need to close out the school year in ways that are quite different from how we are accustomed to doing so.

You might be close to running out of new picture books to read, and we know that there's nothing better than a good book before bed! The RES staff doesn't want anyone to miss out on the excitement of shared reading!

Each week in the Smore newsletter, you will find a link to FIVE stories, each read aloud by one of our super staff members. Spread them out over the week, and you'll have a new bedtime story each day!

During distance learning, there might be times in which students need the support of our school counselor, Mrs. O'Neill. She is available during this time to help students and their families. Please click here to access Mrs. O'Neill's website.

In order to help promote student wellness, the district is providing optional activities for all grade levels that could be completed individually or with families on Fridays. The activities address the physical health, mental health, and social connectedness of our students. Please click on the following link for the student wellness activities (previously provided on 5/21).

Council Rock School District is canceling its Summer Music Program, Summer Academic and STEM Academy, Title 1 Summer Camp, and Camp Invention. Any registrations and payments received will be returned to families over the next several weeks.

Please note that Camp Invention is offering an at-home alternative this summer. The Council Rock Director, Christine Marsden, will reach out in a few days with additional details on how to sign up for the at-home version and/or get a full refund.

You can submit your completed registration by using instructions listed on the site. Once your file is reviewed, we will be in contact to complete the process via e-signature. Please do not forget applications must be submitted by June 1st to guarantee a spot in your student’s home school!

To apply for free lunch during the COVID-19 school closure, you may:

• Download the Free and Reduced Lunch Application, fill it out, and email back to Karen Moody kmoody@crsd.org. DO NOT send your application via US mail to the district office as there is no mail being delivered to our buildings during this time.­­­
• Apply online by visiting: https://www.compass.state.pa.us/compass.web/Public/CMPHome (the website offers language options other than English)

You will only need to submit one application per household, even if your children attend more than one school in Council Rock School District. Eligibility determination is made using federal income eligibility guidelines and applicants will be informed of a decision within two business days of submission.

Throughout the duration of the COVID-19 school closure, Council Rock School District is offering a “grab and go” food service. If your family qualifies for free or reduced-price lunch, you will be given instructions as to how to access these meals when you are notified your child is eligible.
