A Note from the Principal
Dear Audubon Families,
Happy December! It’s hard to believe we are nearing the end of another calendar year, and the second semester will conclude on the 7th of January (January 6th and 7th were changed to be included in first semester due to the hurricane make-up days).
Just a quick reminder of important progress monitoring dates that are coming up during the first week of December:
FAST Progress Monitoring Grades 3rd–6th
Dec. 3rd – ELA Dec. 4th - Math
FAST Progress Monitoring Grades K-2nd
Dec. 10th – ELA Dec. 11th - Math
It is always important to encourage your child to do his/her best work; and when something is difficult, success is achieved by working hard. We will continue to use this information to drive our planning and instruction as we progress into the second half of the school year.
As we approach the end of 2024, it is with great pride that I look back at the accomplishments our students have achieved both socially and academically. They have worked hard, and I am so proud to be part of such an amazing school. We appreciate your partnership and continued support throughout the school year.
I would like to wish all our Audubon Families a safe and happy holiday season. Winter break begins after school on Friday, December 20th with classes resuming on Monday, January 6th. Please note that December 18th, 19th, and 20th are all early release days with a 1:15pm dismissal time.
Even though the holidays can be busy, please take time to enjoy the family time, create new family memories, and embrace this treasured time. Your children grow up so fast, and this is a great time to just enjoy the time you have together. Make sure to read with your child every day – find a good book and enjoy it together as a family. Talk about the opportunities to continue to grow the remainder of the school year – maybe set a family goal for the new year. Have a wonderful winter break and we’ll see you in 2025!
Sincerely,
Candace Jones, Principal

Family Lunch
We look forward to seeing so many families every Friday! Please see below for some important reminders:
-Weather Permitting- Please keep an eye on your email and text messages for any changes. We will try to get the information out to you as early as possible if family lunch is being cancelled.
-Students must stay at the picnic tables with their adult. No running around or playing in the courtyard.
-Students cannot bring a friend from class to sit with their parent/adult. Only parents/legal guardians on the child's information forms in FOCUS can eat with a student.
-Parents/Guardians must check in at the front office as a visitor and get a yellow badge. This badge must be worn at all times when on campus.
-Parents/Guardians MUST stay in the courtyard. You cannot walk your child to the restroom or to class.
*Teachers have been reminded that students need to use the restroom before lunch time, so this shouldn't be an issue. :-)
Parents and Families,
Here is what you need to do if you want to eat lunch with your child:
- Make sure you notify your child’s teacher that you are eating lunch with them, so they can meet you at the tables. If you send an email, please do so in enough time for the teacher to see it before lunch.
- Only Parents and Legal Guardians can eat lunch with their own child(ren).
- Sign in as a Visitor in the Front Office and obtain a yellow name badge (you are not volunteering; you are visiting for lunch).
- You will report to the courtyard and wait on your child. The teacher will release your child to this area when he/she is taking his/her students to lunch.
- This area will be supervised during the entire lunch period.
- If you are not a registered volunteer, you will need to be escorted on and off campus by a staff member.
Every Friday will be available for parent/child lunch. We have limited seating, so you need to sign up through sign-up genius. The link for that is below:

Once again, I am happy to share this news with you. I look forward to seeing you and your child enjoy lunch together on Fridays!
Sincerely,

Science Fair Judges Needed
Audubon Elementary is currently looking for judges for our Science and Engineering Fair which will take place on January 29, 2025. Judges will be needed from 9 a.m. to around 11:30 a.m. Brunch will be provided and there will be a short presentation on Judging Procedures beginning at 9:00 a.m. If you're interested, please email me at saltsman.jessica@brevardschools.org. If you would like to serve as a judge at the district level, please let me know that as well. The district fair for our area will be held on February 27 at Space Coast Junior/Senior High.
Science Fair projects are required for fifth grade. However, the fourth and sixth graders are welcome to complete a project. If your child is in one of those grades, they can join the Google Classroom with the following code: ipapuq5. This is where the student handbook is located as well as detailed steps on how to complete each part of a successful project. All completed projects are due by January 24, 2025 in order to be considered for entry into the fair. Let me know if I can help you in any way!

Great job Eagles! We reached our $5k goal for the Fun Run and earned a Pajama Day! A big shout out to Kindergarten who not only raised the most for the Fun Run but also brought in the most items for the Thanksgiving Food Drive.
