SMS STUDENTS VISIT STRONGSVILLE’S SENIOR CENTER FOR TECH ASSISTANCE
Last week, some of our 6th grade middle school students visited the Strongsville Recreation & Senior Center to participate in the monthly Senior Center's "TechKNOWledgy with Teens" Program. The program, a collaboration between Strongsville's Senior Center and SMS, is a huge hit! The students work with seniors in answering questions about their smart phones, tablets, laptops, and everything else "tech." Special thanks to SMS 6th Grade Teacher John Lipowski and Senior Services Coordinator Sheena Wright for their efforts in connecting the middle school students with Strongsville's senior center - and thank you to News 5 Cleveland for airing a story about this great program!
MUSTANG SPOTLIGHT - MRS. OLIVIA FADENHOLZ, MUSIC TEACHER AT SURRARRER ELEMENTARY
Mrs. Olivia Fadenholz is in her second year teaching in our District. Mrs. Fadenholz is the music teacher at Surrarrer Elementary School. She earned her undergraduate degree from Florida State University.
“My favorite part about working with our students is getting to see them make progress and feel successful. In music there is always room for improvement, which makes it all the more important to celebrate and appreciate those “A-ha!” moments. Part of my job is to help students build that confidence to take risks and to celebrate all of their achievements, no matter how big or small. I especially love when I hear students support one another and cheer on their classmates after sharing or being a leader in music class. Beyond that, another favorite part of my job is just getting to know students and their individuality. Whether I’m in a classroom or walking down the hall, students are always sharing with me about their day or what's on their mind. I know about wiggly teeth, new pets, favorite colors, and so much more. I feel honored to get to be another part of their day and their education here at Surrarrer,” said Mrs. Fadenholz.
“Beyond getting to know and work with students each day, I am also privileged to work beside an outstanding staff of caring adults at Surrarrer. I am so grateful for the support and inspiration I receive each day from our school team. I know and trust that my coworkers have the students’ best interests at the core of everything they do, and I have learned so much from them in my time here.”
Thank you Mrs. Fadenholz for sharing your love of music with our students at Surrarrer and giving them opportunities to explore their creativity. #BeTheDifference
