Tharptown Elementary School
September 2 - September 6
How do you make a difference in the life of a student? As an educator, you probably ask yourself this question every day. School presents its own set of challenges and obstacles and we can often feel like we make no difference at all. However, be assured that each day you do make a difference in the life of a student. You have the power to determine the culture of your classroom. You can make a student feel welcome, supported, and valued. You have the ability to help the student feel confident, secure, and protected. Your actions, body language, and conversations let the students know that you care for them and that they are important to you. No, we may not can fix everything...but we can make a huge impact. What if we used the following powers....
Your greatest power is the power to...
be move loving.
be more courageous.
be more joyous.
be more friendly.
be more sensitive.
be more aware.
be more forgiving.
be more tolerant.
be more patient.
be more helpful.
be a greater human being.
If we all demonstrated the powers listed above, think of the impact we could have on the lives of our students each day. WE do have the power to make a difference...one student at a time!
Be that teacher!
Teaching Patriotism
It was great to walk down the halls last week and see American flags hanging outside the classrooms! What a great way to begin teaching patriotism and the importance of the flag. Although saying the pledge each day is a great way to instill patriotism in students, it only touches the surface. I encourage all teachers to look for opportunities to teach patriotism to students...even if they are small opportunities. Our students are our future and the future of this nation. Learning how to be a productive citizen begins with us!
Fund Raiser Kick-Off
As you know, our fundraiser is an important event to our school as it helps us raise the funds for things that are essential to our school. Please encourage and remind our students about our fundraiser. I appreciate your help!
Minimizing Classroom Disruptions
Classroom and instructional time are very valuable to learning. Therefore, the goal is to eliminate as many classroom disruptions as possible. From this point forward, we will be making announcements twice a day. We will do our moment of silence, pledge, and morning announcements at 7:55. Afternoon announcements will take place at 2:38 each afternoon. If you have anything you would like to announce, please have the information to the front office prior to announcement times. This will allow us to minimize classroom disruptions and maximize your instructional time. Thank you for your help with this! Let's make every minute count!
