Elements' Weekly Update

We hope all of our FSE families have had a relaxing and enjoyable summer! My name is Teri Pearn and I am thrilled to be the new principal of Fort Saskatchewan Elementary and join the school community. On behalf of the Fort Saskatchewan Elementary staff, welcome to the 2024-2025 school year. We are excited to embark on another journey of learning, growth, and collaboration to best support our students. Whether you are returning or joining us for the first time, we are thrilled to have your family as part of our school community.

Every Friday, families will receive the Elements' Weekly Update via email to receive important school information and updates. Be sure to check your junk folder if you do not receive it so you don't miss out! Another important source of information is our school website, which can be found at www.fortelem.ca.

Staff will be reaching out to all families next week on Tuesday with information on homeroom teachers and where students will meet their teacher on the first day of school.

From a security perspective, the most important function of an exterior door is for protection from the elements and to control entry for building security. Elk Island Public Schools has enacted a Building Security and Door Locking Procedure for the 2024-2025 school year.

All exterior doors, including the front entrance doors, will be locked, and opened only for student and visitor access during designated school entry times and special events.

Students who arrive when doors are locked, as well as parents/caregivers and visitors, will be welcomed into the office through the main office after ringing the doorbell/video-monitored intercom entry system, located on the left-hand side of the entrance.

All visitors must sign in and out of the school at the main office and follow visitor protocol.

Fort Saskatchewan Elementary and the Division use the SchoolMessenger platform for communicating with families, both through phone and email. Be sure to add communications@eips.ca and general.fse@eips.ca to your safe sender list to avoid having important messages funneled into your junk folder.
