ELEANOR NERY - BATH TECH'S MACTE STUDENT OF THE YEAR
Eleanor is a kind and compassionate young lady who sees the good in everyone. She is a strong advocate for CTE and does not hesitate to help her peers have a successful experience in Culinary Arts.
In the classroom Eleanor is focused and highly engaged. She works hard to perfect her culinary skills and as such she has represented Bath Tech at SkillsUSA two years in a row, earning a gold medal last year and a silver medal this year. Eleanor has also earned her certifications in both Servesafe Managers as well as ServeSafe Allergens.
Eleanor has excelled in outside competitions and has achieved a high level of excellence. Last year Eleanor and her teammates finished second at the Local Food competition sponsored by the Maine Cooperative Extension and this year she and her culinary partner, Gwen Weaver, came in first place.
After graduation Eleanor will take a gap year to participate in the Worldwide Opportunities of Organic Farms in Ireland. Prior to leaving for Europe she will be hiking the four corners of the United States. Eleanor’s post-secondary educational plans have her attending the Culinary Institute of America.
Eleanor is a senior from Lincoln Academy who is a member of the tennis team, has achieved honor roll and is a solid school citizen. Congratulations, Eleanor!
NOT YOUR AVERAGE FIELD TRIP
As Wolf's Neck Farm says "It isn't your average field trip". The Culinary class had a fun filled sunny April day at the farm. We learned about the cows and how they are fighting climate change. Pastures and how they help the planet. In addition, we learned the process and chemistry of cheese making and were able to practice what we learned.
Thank you to JMG who helped sponsor this experience for our students.
GRAPHIC DESIGN STUDENTS GAIN REAL WORLD EXPERIENCE
Second year Graphic Design students Iris Conlin and CJ Savastano were part of a collaboration with Age-Friendly Communities of the Lower Kennebec. CJ filmed a meeting held in downtown Bath at Union & CO, and Iris designed their rack cards that were presented at the meeting. Both students gained real world experience working with a local organization.
GRAPHIC DESIGN VISIT RINCK ADVERTISING
Our Graphic Design students traveled to Lewiston for an industry experience at Rinck Advertising. Students participated in a brainstorming and sketching competition identifying the target, benefits, and strategy for Kraft Mac & Cheese. They went on a tour of the advertising agency and heard from the CEO, Art Director, Client Strategist, PR Manager, Director of Digital Development, Social Media Manager and Creative Director. It was an excellent representation of the different responsibilities in their advertising firm.
