Mennonite pastor Melissa Florer-Bixler connects forgiveness and restorative justice:
We are told that we choose whose world we want to live in. We’ll choose wealth or God. We’ll choose violence or God. We’ll choose nationalism or God. We’ll choose racial hierarchy or God. Each case is an example of a different and incompatible operational system. One of those systems, if we live by it, binds us in endless struggle and violence that leads to our own destruction, as well as the destruction of others….
We are asked to choose which world we want to live in—a world of retributive justice or a world of forgiveness. [Theologian] Karl Barth, reflecting on forgiveness, writes, “Living by forgiveness is never by any means passivity, but Christian living in full activity.” Barth writes that, when we finally come before God, we will not be asked to give an account of our piety or morality. Instead, we will be asked, “Did you live by grace, or did you set up gods for yourself and perhaps want to become one yourself?”
Hi Everyone,
My last reflection on the imperative that is restorative justice. Long may it continue to thrive.
This week has been a busy one covering everything from subject assessments to concert practice! Furthermore, today’s Pre-Kindy concert was just exquisite. The farewell for the Graduating Siena children - Miguel, Sophie, Bridget and Zariecka - was a moving and beautiful experience.
Next week is another special one in our community with Year Six Graduation on Monday, Big Day In (Concert) on Tuesday, Big Day Out (Excursions) on Wednesday and Mass and class parties on Friday. A big and beautiful week , one to be enjoyed. We hope to see plenty of you!
Have a great weekend.

Student Leadership Announcement - 2025
Please see the attached document, with an announcement for the 2025 student leaders. As I said in our school assembly this week, next year will bring many opportunities for all students to demonstrate their leadership, not just those who receive a formal leadership position.

Holy Rosary End of Year Concert
On Tuesday 3rd December, we invite the school community to join us for our annual End of Year Concert. As we advised you earlier in the year, this year our concert looks slightly different to what we have done in the past, with each individual class performing their own item. Our concert will begin at 5pm and we anticipate it will conclude around 6:30pm. Please find attached the information booklet for the evening - it should be a great night!
SEQTA Engage Parent Log-in to access reports
It is important that you please check your log in for SEQTA Engage as early as possible so that you will be able to access your child's report at the end of this term.
To do this you need to go to the following site:
https://holyrosarydblv.engage.cewa.edu.au/ or follow the link from our school website to “SEQTA Engage - parents” and use your username and password credentials that you used previously.
Year Six families and families not returning in 2025, please ensure that you have downloaded or printed off any reports you wish to keep a copy of. Your child will be removed from Seqta at the end of the year, and you will no longer have access to these documents.
If you have remembered your username but have forgotten your password, please click on the 'Forgot your password' link and an immediate email will be sent to you. The email will expire within one hour, so please action this immediately.
Reports will be released on SEQTA on Friday 6 December at 3pm.

The Year 6’s were fortunate to have a visit from ex-Newman student and 2023 Year 12 Wellbeing Captain Belle. Belle spent time with the Seasons for Growth students and then the rest of the year group, answering questions about high school and the all-important, how to use the padlock! Belle offered some great advice, and we are so grateful to her for taking the time to visit and support our HR graduates each year. I highly recommend Claire Eaton’s seminar on starting high school for any parent whose child experiencing any anxiety about the transition to high school. You can keep a look out for her events for parents and students here:

Thank you to our amazing HR community for the incredible support of the Vinnies Christmas Appeal. We will continue this service with our Year 6 council groups next year and they are most grateful for your help to keep their pantry full.
The staff vs Year 6 basketball game at lunch was a huge hit as always. Humid conditions meant for a tough game with the staff coming out on top as always! Enjoy the next wonderful week of fun and belonging at HR.
