SCHOOL NEWS
ATTENDANCE
An essential element for a child's educational success is their attendance. Regular and punctual attendance is expected of all students at Monte Vista Elementary School. Absences for reasons other than illness are discouraged since students miss valuable instructional time and tend to become overwhelmed when trying to make up missed schoolwork. Please plan to take your vacations during non-school days as they are considered unexcused absences.

LIBRARY NEWS
Here are two ideas to keep your family engaged with books.
1. Join the Caldecott Club! Caldecott Info
2. Spring Clean those bookshelves!
We'd love to have all the books your family has outgrown - as long as they are in okay shape and age appropriate (preschool-6th grade). We will either use them in our library or sell them at our year-end book sale. This book sale is a major source of funding to buy new books each year. We need donations! Boxes/bags of books can be dropped off in the office.
MONTY LANE REMINDERS
Our Student Council prepared the following videos about the rules for Monty Lane in English, Korean, and Armenian.

- Please pull forward to pick up your child if there is a space in front of you
- Please do not cross the street without a crosswalk or cross the street through Monty Lane
- Please do not block driveways
- Parents who pick up primary and upper-grade students may not pick up their primary student and wait in Monty Lane for their upper-grade sibling. You will be asked to go around the block.
