Hello SFIAM Families! I am Ms. Fitzgerald. In my position as instructional coach for mathematics, I work with our math teachers and students in the math classes supporting instruction. I also manage our after-school tutoring program and conduct data chats and goal setting with our students. In addition to coaching, I serve on the SFiAM Governing Council, Instructional Leadership committee, Student Recognitions committee, and math department chair. I began teaching at SFMS in 2007 and I am one of the founding teachers of SFiAM. I am dedicated to improving the educational opportunities for all students. I earned my bachelor’s degree in liberal studies and master’s degree in education from CSUN. If you see me on campus, please introduce yourself. I am here to serve the SFiAM community.

SFIAM will be closed on Thursday, October 3rd. See everyone back at school on Friday, October 4th!

We've noticed a few challenges at the student store during lunch, and we want to make sure it's a fun and fair experience for everyone! Some students have been asking others to buy them items or cutting ahead of those who have been waiting patiently. To keep things running smoothly, we closed the store on Thursday and Friday to reset.

Starting next week, students can purchase up to 2 items per visit. If you'd like more, you're welcome to hop back in line! Please also remember that exchanging money between students isn’t allowed, and if staff sees it happening, we’ll safely return the money to parents.

Our goal is to make sure no one feels pressured to buy something for someone else. Let’s all work together to keep the student store a happy, fair place for everyone!

Last week, we held our Safety Town Hall where parents had the opportunity to hear from the principals of SFiAM and SFMS, as well as representatives from the LA School Police and San Fernando Police. It was a valuable time for parents to share their concerns and ask questions about school safety.

We held our very first meeting of the Padres y Páginas Book Club last week, and it was a wonderful experience! It was heartwarming to see parents enjoying the time together, sharing thoughts and insights. We’d love to hear your suggestions for activities or workshops you would like us to organize in the future. Your input is invaluable to us!

The Unusual Suspects Theater Program will run from October 14th to December 9th, with sessions held on Mondays and Wednesdays after school at SFIAM’s Parent Center. If you have any questions or need more information, please feel free to reach out—we’d love to hear from you!
