Cougar Connection
Vol 4. 9.3.2021
Weekly Updates
Congratulation on our first full week! I know that it continues to be an adjustment as we adapt to our new normal of being extra cautious with our COVID-19 protocols. It has been a joy to see your students settle into their routines and build relationships with their classroom teachers and classmates.
I also want to thank you for your patience with us as we get the wheels rolling. I enjoyed our coffee with the principal this morning and the feedback that you provided about how we can improve. If you weren't able to make it this morning and you have questions or suggestions, please do reach out to me!
Here are a few brief reminders:
- There is no school on Monday for Labor Day.
- Over 90% of our families have completed the annual update of documents! Go team. If you aren't one of those people, please do that this weekend.
- Over 70% of our families are now signed up and using Frontline. Please make sure you have done this and use it daily!
Lastly, we will host our Back to School Night virtually this year the week of September 20th. More information to come shortly.
I hope you have a wonderful weekend and we'll see you on Tuesday morning.
Thank you,
Mr. Haupert

Frontline Screener
HUSD is using the Frontline Health Portal to allow students and staff to complete a daily online health assessment prior to arriving on campus. Completing the health assessment is an important part of our safety plan, so we encourage you to get an early start on activating an account for your student prior to the first day of school.
School Lunch Program/Programa de comida escolar
Healthy and accessible meals provide the nourishment our students need to engage in deeper learning. That is why we are excited to announce that all students, regardless of income status, can access free school meals for the 2021-22 school year! While no action is required in order for students to access free meals, there are still many benefits to completing the Free and Reduced Lunch application. By completing the application, families may qualify for discounts on internet access, students’ college fees, summer camps, etc. Additionally, the information families provide can help the district receive funding for important programs such as preschool, before- and after-school enrichment, college preparedness, career pathways, family engagement, and more.
The application is confidential, easy to complete, and can be accessed in multiple languages.
