Ebenezer Elementary School
May 2024
Message from the Principal
Dear Ebenezer Families,
The 2023-2024 school year is quickly coming to a close. As we reflect on the year gone by, let us celebrate the accomplishments of our students and the unwavering support of our families. Thank you for your continued partnership and commitment to the success of our students. I am confident that with your ongoing support, our students will continue to reach new heights in the years to come.
I am immensely proud of each and every one of our students. Their hard work, passion, and enthusiasm have not only enriched our school but also inspired us all. Together, we have created a vibrant and supportive learning environment where every student can thrive and succeed.
May and June are going to be a blur. This past weekend, the Ebenezer PTE held a very successful Carnival. Thank you to the many volunteers and community partners who made this day such a success. This week we are finishing up our PSSA testing with 4th grade taking their science tests Thursday and Friday. We still have a lot to look forward to this school year. We have a chorus concert, spring book fair, 5th grade recognition, a summer send off show, field day, fun day, and more! Please check the newsletter for a full list of events in May and June.

Let’s get ready for Summer Reading with Books a Million!
The Books a Million (BAM) Book Fair will be set up in the Library the week of May 13! Grades 1-5 are scheduled to shop during library classes. A Family Shopping Night is scheduled on May 15, from 4:00-7:00PM before the Chorus Concert. We encourage Kindergarten families to join us during this time. There will be titles for every age and level and proceeds support the Ebenezer Library & Media Center. Look for more details coming home with your child on May 10.

CHORUS AND SHOW CHOIR SPRING CONCERT
It is almost that time of year again! Our Spring Choral Concert here at Ebenezer is just a few weeks away. Our Holiday Concert back in December went amazingly well, and your sons and daughters had an outstanding performance!
Here is a friendly reminder about our upcoming concerts:
School Concert: Wednesday, May 15th @ 2:30pm (For school students)
Evening Concert: Wednesday, May 15th @ 7pm (For parents/family)
Report time: 6:30pm in the music room.
For BOTH performances, I would like the students to wear concert black and white - some type of plain white shirt or blouse (Example: turtleneck or dress shirt. Please no T-shirts.), black pants or a black skirt/dress (try to avoid jeans), and nice dress shoes (NO sneakers, if possible). Due to walking/standing on risers, I do not recommend high heels be worn.
ALL chorus students will meet in the Music Room at 6:30 PM on Wednesday, May 15th. The concert begins at 7:00 PM.

FALCONS CONNECT - SUMMER OPPORTUNITY
Falcons Connect is a free summer program for all our CLSD K-8th grade students and their families. For the past two summers, it’s been a fantastic time to get together with school friends and make new ones in a relaxed format at a park near you!
This summer, we’re excited to return to South Hills, Lions Lake, Gloninger Park, and Ironwood. We’ll also be at Union Canal Elementary School playground.
At each Falcons Connect, CLSD staff will be available to interact with the children, play outdoor games, create simple crafts, and enjoy a meal together, provided by our CLSD Food Services with generous community support from the Giant Store’s Feeding School Kids program.

PTE NEWS
Hello Ebenezer Families,
We want to thank all the individuals who have volunteered this school year. We have had many very successful events this year and that is thanks to all our willing volunteers. If you did not have the opportunity to be a part of our events this year, we are already starting to plan for the fall, so please consider helping at the beginning of the school year.
Our last PTE meeting of the year is Wednesday, May 1st at 6:30 pm. We hope to see you there!
BE A GUEST TEACHER
Join Our Team: Be a Guest Teacher in CLSD Schools
Have you ever thought about a career in education? Do you hold a bachelor’s degree? Guest Teaching might be just what you are looking for to increase your income while maintaining a flexible schedule. As a substitute teacher in the Cornwall-Lebanon School DIstrict, you can earn $155/day ($165/day for emotional or autistic support classrooms). Monthly bonuses are possible, too!
Lancaster-Lebanon IU13 offers a Guest Teacher Training program that is designed to provide participants with limited or no classroom experience with the necessary training to qualify as day-to-day substitutes. Individuals who have earned a bachelor’s degree in any content area and wish to serve as a day-to-day substitute teacher are encouraged to enroll in the program.
The Guest Teacher Training is done in two parts: online training and one on-site training day from 8 AM to 4 PM. (Lunch will be provided.)
Each Guest Teacher exits the training program with the basic skills and resources to be a substitute teacher and will be issued an emergency teaching permit from the PA Department of Education (PDE).
Make a positive impact in our schools and community while enjoying a flexible schedule!
